I’m always on the lookout for a great quote about exploring and travel.
I love getting some inspiration about newer and richer experiences in this big and beautiful world!
So I decided to create my own list!
Whether you are looking for exploration quotes about unknown lands, adventure quotes, or simply the wisdom gathered from inspirational quotes; I think my list of 60+ Inspiring Quotes About Exploring and Traveling the World covers it all.
Here’s to finding new secret destinations, exploring the world and its many foreign streets, and generally gaining a newer and richer experience starting with these awesome quotes about exploring! Happy travels!
While on some of my many foreign adventures, I have been lucky enough to have firsthand encounters with some of the most famous locations from the silver screen!
Sites such as Lara Croft’s tree in Cambodia, James Bond Island, and of course, the epic Maya Bay featured in The Beach.
So before you set off on your next adventure, it seemed like a wonderful way to kick off our 61 quotes about exploring from some of the most famous movie classics!

11. “There’s no place like home” – Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz
In this indefinitely wild and wonderful world we live in, it can be easy to lose sight of the important things…
This is precisely why I wanted to include some of these short exploring quotes as a reminder of all the hidden gems, new oceans, and wonderful adventures: past, present, and future!
12. “Exploration is curiosity put into action.” – Don Walsh
13. “Live your life by a compass, not a clock.” – Stephen Covey
Unfortunately, time marches on, so to really make life extraordinary, I am definitely taking this advice!
Given we have all had limited opportunities to travel during the pandemic, my gladdest moment will definitely be jumping on a plane to make up for some serious lost time in search of my next adventure.
14. “Oh, the places you’ll go” – Dr. Seuss
15. “You need mountains; long staircases don’t make good hikers.” – Amit Kalantri

As a result, there is always a story to tell and laughs to be had, which is why I had to include this fabulous quote about exploring on my list!

20. “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries” – Aldous Huxley
21. “Jobs fill your pocket, adventures fill your soul” – Jaime Lyn Beatty
This is one of my most inspirational explore quotes as it aligns so closely with my own life!
For anyone who doesn’t know me, I spent many years (before settling into my semi-retired wanderlust life!) creating and developing my own lifestyle business.
This has given me an amazing opportunity to spend time with my family & friends and travel to my heart’s content! This is probably why I love this quote about exploring so much!

Some of the most amazing and fulfilling travel experiences I have had have all been on a budget (if not free!) Of all the explore quotes I have come across, this really is one of the truest.
26. “Every exit is an entry somewhere else.” – Tom Stoppard
It’s always nice to see how the other half live! And when it comes to travel and explore quotes it’s not just Henry David Thoreau and Michael Palin who like to weigh in!

29. “All that is gold does not glitter; just as not all those who wander are lost.” – JRR Tolkien
30. “Once a year, go somewhere you have never been before.” – Dalai Lama
Unfortunately, this one had to be put on hold for the last few years, for obvious reasons!
However, I still love the sentiment.
Human life only happens once, so it’s great to remind ourselves to push the boundaries and always try something new!
31. “Great things are done when men and mountains meet.” – William Blake
32. “There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
33. “Make voyages. Attempt them. There’s nothing else.” – Tennessee Williams
34. “I never knew of a morning in Africa, when I woke up and was not happy” – Ernest Hemingway
Hemingway really knew how to embrace exploration! In fact, he was such a fearless adventurer when he went to Africa, that a couple of newspapers ran his obituary (after his second… yes, second plane crash) when in reality he had survived both and was living it up on safari!
For me, this is one of the top explore quotes simply because everyone has this special feeling about a place they have traveled to. For Hemingway, it’s Africa; for me, it was India.
I hope I can find this feeling in a whole heap of new places in the future!
35. “Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life” – Michael Palin

Here’s to the next adventure!

Throughout the global pandemic, it’s been really tough for those of us with the travel bug.
Although we are not totally out the other side, the world seems to be getting back on track, and hopefully, moving forward, the only fear will be fully booked flights!
To keep us all going strong, I have picked out some of my favorite inspirational explore quotes to keep the faith for an incredible year ahead! Happy travels!

I am a firm believer that wandering re-establishes our sanity! And there is nothing like seeing the open road (both real and symbolic!) ahead of you.
I just love the excitement of a new adventure which is why I absolutely had to include this quote in my top 61 explore quotes!
44. “We only know a tiny proportion about the complexity of the natural world. Wherever you look, there are still things we don’t know about and don’t understand. […] There are always new things to find out if you go looking for them.” – David Attenborough
45. “It’s in those quiet little towns, at the edge of the world, that you will find the salt of the earth people who make you feel right at home.” – Aaron Lauritsen
I could not agree more with this awesome quote from Lauritsen!
Having been in Asia for some time now, this quote really hits home for me.
Whether it’s a remote fishing village in the middle of the Andaman Sea or a teeny mom-and-pop shop down one of the winding side streets of Bangkok, it is always the beautiful people here who make my day!
Unending kindness and always greeted with an enormous grin… it really is the people who make travel adventures so incredible.
46. “Life is an experiment in which you may fail or succeed. Explore more, expect least.” – Santosh Kalwar
47. “To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world” – FreyaStark
When it comes to quotes about exploring, this one is up there!
Although it’s not too often I wake up alone (given I usually have hubby, daughter, and sometimes the dog with me!) I still find it great to open the curtains to a brand new vista!
The anticipation of exploring, trying new food, and even getting hopelessly lost, is a fab feeling.
I am super excited to catch up on tons of travel and see as many new places as possible on my next adventure!
48. “Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times.” – Asian Proverb
49. “No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” – Lin Yutan
This explore quote is so accurate! There is always that “ahhh” feeling when you lay your head down in your own bed.
However, I must say, it felt pretty good laying my head down on my cruise around HaLong Bay a few years ago too! (see pic).
As a real travel junkie, I always find the familiarity of “home,” wherever that may be, very comforting. Still, usually, it’s not too long before I am ready to jump back into wanderlust life once again!
50. “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail,” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.
51. “There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them” – Jo Walton.

53. “Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in an office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain” – Jack Kerouac

59. “I travel… therefore I am humbled” – Judy Gurney
60. “Travel isn’t always pretty, it isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s ok. The journey changes you – it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you…Hopefully, you leave something good behind” – Anthony Bourdain
61. “I want to fly away” – Lenny Kravitz
Exploring the world is such a grand adventure and an incredible way to enjoy life!

Whether you are a daredevil, beach bum, or culture buff the possibilities are absolutely endless!
I hope these 61 explore quotes have given you a little bit of inspiration and that the 2020’s bring you some amazing travel adventures!

A remote weekend job is a fantastic way to boost your income, save to start traveling the world, or even start an online lifestyle business which will, in time, give you the freedom to quit your day job and work from anywhere!
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that over the last 12 months, inflation rose to 7.9%.
So making extra cash these days can definitely improve your financials and boost your savings!
Here are 10 awesome remote weekend jobs to consider;
No matter your interests or passions, these days you can start a blog and generate income either through advertising on your site, affiliate marketing or even selling your own products.
To get started, simply choose your niche/topic that you want to blog about, set up a hosting account, create a simple site using WordPress or Wix, and start writing!
If every weekend you could churn out 3 – 5 articles and schedule them all to be published through the week, it won’t be long before you start to build up your content and views.
Popular blogger Adam Enfroy generated over 7 figures in just 2 years of blogging. You can get more info about his blogging strategy here.
Amazon has a program called FBA (fulfillment by Amazon). This means that they handle all the picking, packing, and distribution of products from their warehouses.
Your job is to source products to sell on the Amazon marketplace, negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers, ship the products to the warehouses, then list and promote your products on and off Amazon.
While this does require upfront investment to purchase stock, it’s a very lucrative business model.
The creator of this blog, Jo, and her husband generated over 7 figures within a year on Amazon and you can read their story here.
If you don’t have the investment to get started with this, here’s another Amazon option…
Rather than using an overseas supplier and FBA, another great weekend business model is retail arbitrage.
If you love to shop, then you’ll love this!
Your job is to work weekends bargain hunting and scouting shops, garage sales, discount stores, and such like, for cheap but quality products you can then resell on Amazon for a profit.
The upside is you spend Saturday shopping. The downside is you spend Sunday packing for shipping!
Nikki Kirk is an expert in retail arbitrage. See more details about how to get started with retail arbitrage here.
Dropshipping means you act as the middle man between a product supplier and the customer. You find a great product you’d like to sell, advertise it on your website, and when a customer purchases, the order goes to the product supplier to fulfill.
You keep the difference between the price the customer pays you and what you’ve agreed to pay the supplier.
Read Marc Chapons’ story about how he generated $178,492 in three months using Spocket to dropship.
This is definitely a side hustle you could start and maintain every weekend.
If you’re creative or crafty, then Etsy could be the place for you.
A unique marketplace specializing in crafts, handmade and unique products, setting up an Etsy store is something you could do on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Focus on taking amazing photographs of your products and listing them with great headlines and lots of relevant keywords.
This is a remote weekend job well worth investigating further!
Do you love to write, but don’t fancy starting your own blog?
If so, start a new career as a freelance writer.
Pick topics and subjects you’re interested in and are confident you can do a good job with and earn anywhere between $0.04 – $0.15 a word depending on your skill levels.
Elna Cain started as a freelance writer and now runs her own freelance writing academy.
If you’re more of a Tiktoker than a writer, then maybe social media is a better fit for you.
As with freelance writing, create yourself a profile on one of the freelance sites and start a job search for social media manager roles.
Plenty of small to medium businesses are looking for help with their social media campaigns as it’s so hard to keep up with all the trends these days.
Your job will be to elicit information from the business and then create social media content which you can then schedule to go out through the week.
Another awesome freelance role is becoming a virtual assistant.
From data entry, to laying out blog posts, creating social content, and conducting research, VA tasks vary from client to client.
Be sure to pick jobs that only need you during the weekend (there will be plenty I assure you) and start earning as soon as you land your first job!
If you love to take photos or play with video editing apps on your phone, then becoming a modern-day photographer, videographer or video blogger could be for you.
So many companies and small businesses want to tap into the image/video-based economy we’re now living in and so honing your videography skills will go a long way to creating a lucrative weekend side hustle.
If you already have a million photos gathering dust in google photos or iphoto, why not start monetizing by selling images to stock photo sites like depositphotos.com or istock.com?
Even better, upload your photos to an Etsy store and sell them as wall art or digital images.
As a photographer, you can even take advantage of print on demand sites like Redbubble
Redbubble is a print-on-demand marketplace, meaning they house a catalog of blank products for you to add your designs to.
Products include t-shirts, mugs, canvases, face masks, clothes, candles, home decor, etc.
Your job is to create your own Redbubble storefront on their platform, add your images to their products and then sell like crazy.
If you’re a natural graphic designer, love playing with apps like Canva, or have a stack of unused images you want to monetize, a site like Redbubble could start to generate regular income for you.
Whether you’re looking for a part-time job or just a way to make some extra cash, plenty of options are available.
Starting a weekend remote job could completely change the direction of your life and your financial future, giving you the opportunity to work your own schedule and work from home (or from anywhere in the world) permanently!
The best way to get started is simply to start.
Pick a model you think interests you and dive in.
If you didn’t know this already, you can now use your favorite photo-based social media app to drive a ton of traffic to your store and have fun doing it (you gotta love technology)!
In fact, if you’re not using Instagram shopping, you’re most likely leaving a lot of money on the table.
If you’re based in the US, you can even take direct payment on the app itself without the customer ever having to leave Instagram.
But before we get into the nitty-gritty of payments, let’s run through how you get this all set up. Then, I’m going to walk you through 11 ways you can promote your Instagram shop and dramatically increase your sales.
Myself and my family are based in Phuket, Thailand, so this was the first challenge I ran into when I first tried to set up Instagram Shopping. We weren’t eligible!
Thankfully Instagram has extended their supported marketplaces extensively since then so Thailand is now included as are many other countries.
You can check if your country is eligible here.
Secondly, you must have an Instagram business or creator account to qualify for Instagram Shopping. A personal account won’t cut it.
Thankfully, this is super easy to do!
Simply go to your Instagram profile and tap Settings. Select “Account,” then “Switch to Professional Account.”
Then, click through the prompts to select a category and enter more details, like your contact information.
Click Done, and that’s all there is to it!
As I’m sure you’re aware, Instagram is now part of Facebook, so to create your store on Instagram, you need to set up your Facebook shop first via their commerce manager.
A few more steps are required than creating your Instagram business account, but again, if you can tie your shoelaces, you can set up a Facebook Shop.
In fact, I timed myself doing this from scratch and it took all of five minutes!
To set up a Facebook shop on your business page, simply:
1. Go to the Create Your Shop page, then click “Next”
2. Select a Checkout Method.
You can decide whether you want customers to go to your website to complete a purchase, or make the purchase without leaving Facebook or Instagram (provided your business is based in the US). You can also choose to let customers checkout informally by messaging you on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
3. On the next pages, follow the prompts to connect your shop to your Facebook Page (or create an entirely new Facebook Page if you don’t have one) and your Facebook business manager account.
The Add Products section lets you create a catalog for your products. Or, you can choose an existing one. Note that you can only use one catalog for your shop, and you can’t change it later—so decide carefully!
4. Once you’ve made your selections, review everything you’ve entered, agree to the Seller Agreement, and select “Finish Setup.”
Boom! Your Commerce Manager account is created and your shop is ready for products and publishing!
With your brand new Facebook shop ready to go, you now need to fill it with your cool products.
Hopefully, unlike me when I launched my ecommerce store, you’ll have slightly less than the 187 products I attempted to launch with!
If you have less than 50 products Facebook advises adding manually, but you can also use a spreadsheet or a data pixel to make the job easier.
If you have more than one store connected to Facebook, you’ll need to confirm which one. To do this, head to your Instagram account and business profile settings. Tap “Business,” then “Shopping” (if you don’t see the Instagram shop tab, that means your account is still waiting to be approved for Instagram Shopping).
In the Shopping menu, you should see the product catalog you created in your Facebook shop. Select it, then click “Done.”
Now you can start tagging, promoting, and letting the world know you exist!
For your products to show on your Instagram Shop, you’ll need to start tagging them with Instagram shopping tags.
Start by uploading a photo of the item as if you’re going to make a normal Instagram post. Add a caption as usual, and then tap “Tag Products.”
Tap on the photo and search for the right product in your catalog. Select the one you want, tap “Done,” and you’re ready to share your brand new Instagram shopping post!
Before we get into the truly exciting part of promoting your shop and Instagram posts, I just wanted to touch on Instagram Checkout, what it is, and more importantly, whether you should use it.
Instagram Checkout is only available in the US, so if you’re from anywhere else in the world you can move straight on to the next section.
Here’s how it works: with IG Checkout, users can buy products from brands with Instagram shops without leaving the app.
If your business uses this feature, you can create Instagram shopping posts where viewers can complete a transaction within the Instagram app itself directly from the Instagram posts. Cool, huh?
This feature can be extremely useful, since making the transaction process as easy as possible will encourage maximum conversion rates. However, it’s not always for everyone.
For instance, keep in mind that Instagram does charge a transaction fee of 5% per shipment (or a flat fee of $0.40 for shipments of $8.00 or less). And if you’re hoping to drive traffic to your own site, you may not want to let customers stay on Instagram for the entire purchase process.
So in the end, it’s up to you and your goals whether you choose to use Instagram Checkout or not. But it’s a handy feature for those who use it!
Yes! My favorite part. You’ve got the technical stuff out of the way; now it’s time to get the word out there and draw customers in to your Instagram shop.
Let’s start with the obvious one. Hashtags are big news on Instagram. To ensure your shopping posts get in front of your ideal target market, you’ll need to use the very best hashtags that are most relevant to your product and your audience.
You can find hashtags a few ways:
- Research related hashtags. Manually type what you think are obvious hashtags into the search bar, then select “tags” from the dropdown menu. Analyze the results that pop up. What top hashtags are related to your hashtag? Do they show any creative ways to engage with your audience?
- Look at what your competitors are using. Brands with a similar audience and/or product will have a few top-performing posts; see what hashtags they used and try a few of them for yourself!
- Find out what hashtags your audience is using. What is your target audience interested in? Creep on a few of your followers’ posts to find out their interests and what niche topics they follow. Of course, only use the hashtags that fit your content; using wildly random hashtags never did anyone any favors.
It goes without saying, but Instagram is a visual platform. You literally have seconds to grab a scroller’s attention and it’s your job to make them stop and look.
Plus, you want to ensure you’re showcasing how amazing your products are—and it’s the visuals you produce that will ensure that happens.
Here are some examples of super creative Instagram shopping product images that undoubtedly grab the viewers’ instant attention:
As you can see, these Instagram shops focus on using bright colors and intriguing images that draw the eye.
Videos are where it’s at these days, in fact, it’s estimated that the average person watches 100 minutes of video daily.
There is no better way to showcase your product than by actually demonstrating it in action!
Thanks to the clever techies who keep dreaming up more ways to make our lives infinitely easier, there are a multitude of super cool video apps to make this process fun and engaging.
Some of my favorites include:
- Video Guru: A video maker for YouTube that lets you merge clips seamlessly into one video, add music, and trim videos like a pro.
- iMovie: An easy and powerful app for Apple users. You can import clips and stitch them together easily, overlay your logo and/or text, and add a soundtrack—all from your phone!
- MoviePro: A user-friendly app that’s great for video editing and has several options for file storage and sharing.
And here are some examples of some amazing product videos which I hope will give you some inspiration.

Did you know you can actually sell on a livestream? Thanks, Instagram!
I’m from the UK, and as a kid, we’d regularly head to the Sunday market where the local butchers and grocers would stand on the back of their trucks selling their wares. It was a case of “he who shouts loudest and can engage the crowd sells the most!”
It’s not so different nowadays, except instead of getting in front of a few hundred people in the local park on a Sunday morning, you can potentially be seen by millions from all over the world, 24/7.
Make this work for you!
Host regular lives to showcase your products and your Instagram shop, talk to customers, answer questions, educate, or entertain.
If you sell fair trade coffee, or handmade jewelry, perhaps you want to talk about how or where your products are made.
Or if you sell a more complex or technical item—like a crockpot or bluetooth speaker—perhaps you run a regular Q&A with customers about your products or the brand behind them.
Perhaps your products have an educational element to them and you regularly host workshops or tutorials. For example, if you sell yoga mats, you might do regular live yoga classes. Or if you sell crystal healing bottles, you could give regular crystal workshops.
Think outside of the box here!
Make a list of ways you could connect with your ideal target market through entertaining, informational or educational lives—all the while showcasing your products and using Instagram Shopping so people can buy, right there and then.
Don’t just tag a product and hope people will click. Make it obvious and make it easy.
Be creative with images and add a little arrow pointing to the ’Shop’ icon.
Add product tags to carousel images to give direct instructions on how people can purchase from your Instagram Shop.
Tell your visitor what to do in the captions.
Give them the option to click the icon, or click the link in your Bio or go to a specific hashtag where they can see all your products.
You can even add a call to action gently guiding them to your main site.
Be as creative as you need to be to make it easy for people to click and shop on your Instagram shopping posts.
Influencer marketing is a huge strategy all on its own, but the main premise is that you find influencers who share your ideal target market and see if you can strike up a relationship.
Can you send them a demo product from your range, for them to use and review if they like it?
Perhaps you can pay them to talk about and promote your product.
Here are some great examples of effective influencer campaigns:

In this partnership, Influencer Danielle Bernstein (@weworewhat) included FIJI water bottles in her posts about getting in shape, reminding her followers that it’s important to stay hydrated when reaching for fitness goals. FIJI water saw this as an opportunity to reach a common audience with a common goal.

Tom’s of Maine, a natural toiletry brand, partnered with micro-influencer Rachel Ibbison to post fun, down-to-earth posts about health-conscious products. She then encouraged her followers to post their own related stories, which caused a massive snowball effect for Toms of Maine that reached millions of viewers!
How can you get your customers to generate content showcasing your brand and products?
One business who has this concept baked into their brand is ‘Live a Great Story.’ Starting as a sticker company, the premise is that you purchase the stickers & take photos of yourself ‘living a great story’ from wherever you might be in the world.
They now sell T-shirts, bags, and other merchandise using the most powerful form of marketing in the world: word of mouth!
Other great examples of user generated content include:

Aerie: The clothing brand used the hashtag #AerieReal to encourage customers to post unedited photos of themselves in a swimsuit to combat the overuse of photo editing in marketing. For every user-generated photo with the hashtag, Aerie donates $1 to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). This campaign raises awareness of a social issue while creating good buzz about your company. Win-win!
Starbucks: This genius UGC strategy asks fans to post creative pics of a seasonal Starbucks red cup with the hashtag #RedCupContest, offering a prize to the winner. It’s a fun way to celebrate the season—and generate more sales, since their audience had to buy a red cup to participate.
Instagram Shopping from Creators is an initiative by Instagram which allows influencers to tag their favorite brands with links directly back to your Instagram shop.
It doesn’t get any better than this!
Someone with a large following who just happens to be your ideal target market, tags your product directly from their image, chatting about how amazing it is in their captions.
Their audience clicks the link, goes directly to your Instagram shop & buys based on the fact their favorite influencer uses or recommends it!
We all know about the Oprah effect or the Meghan effect. This is it on a slightly smaller scale.
Just because everything’s happening on Instagram does not mean you can’t build your own list of interested parties.
Run a contest, offer a discount coupon, or give away a free digital product that complements your brand.
Build a database of people interested in your niche, and nurture them via regular emails showcasing your informational/educational content (and of course your products)!
An example of a brand who does this incredibly well is Boom by Cindy Joseph.
The brand empowers older women while selling their products. Unfortunately Cindy passed away in 2018, but her brand lives on through her business partner, Ezra Firestone.
If you sign up for the 10% off coupon or to become a member of the Boom club, you’ll start to receive valuable emails all about looking after your skin & being proud of your age.
Of course, one of the most obvious ways to attract people to your Instagram shop is by paying for traffic.
I decided to leave this option to the end, because if you’re like many small businesses, you may prefer to try out all organic options first.
But if you have decent profit margins and solid conversion rates on your product pages, it’s likely you can run ad campaigns to drive traffic to your Instagram Shop.
This is of course one of the fastest ways to test your products, sales pages, and funnels, giving you almost instant feedback on what works and what doesn’t.
Just be careful not to lose your shirt.
For a great resource when starting out with paid advertising, check out Hootsuite’s helpful 5-step guide to using Instagram ads.
It’s common marketing wisdom that it costs far more to gain a new customer than to keep the ones you have.
So don’t take your existing audience for granted!
Engage with your community. Talk to them as real people; ask for feedback, suggestions, and questions.
And don’t forget to respond! Reply to comments, DMs, emails, and customer service queries quickly and efficiently.
Word of mouth is the strongest marketing tool there is, so focus not only on the sale, but the experience your customer will have once they’ve purchased.
Social media marketing has evolved constantly over the last few years, and odds are good that it’ll keep changing for as long as social media exists.
That’s good news for small business owners!
Now, you’ve got even more opportunities to get your products out there for the world to see, and if you’re based in the US, your audience can even shop for your products without leaving their favorite social media app!
All it takes is a Facebook shop and the click of a few buttons to upload and tag your products.
Then, you’ll want to utilize a few best practices to engage and delight your audience, like hashtags, high-quality images and video content, and socially-savvy campaigns that partner with influencers, other brands, and users themselves. And as always, don’t forget to engage with your audience to keep them coming back!
If you’re not already using Instagram shopping, what are you waiting for?
Let’s start by clearing up exactly how Phuket is pronounced!
It’s not Fooket as many people wish it was for the comedy factor!
It’s actually Poo-ket, although there’s nothing poo about it!
I’ve lived here for almost 11 years (on & off), while traveling the world and building our lifestyle businesses, and it’s been an incredible experience with the most amazing smiley people. (It’s not called the land of the smiles for nothing!)
Let’s start with a list of things to do in Phuket & then for those who want to know I’ll tell you a little more about this amazing country at the end.
NB: I’ve been struggling with my weight for years and as I wrote this list it became apparent why!
There is a lot of eating to be done in Phuket, but hey you’re on holiday right!
Muay Thai means – Thai Boxing.
It’s an ‘ancient’ tradition over here which is actually surrounded by pomp and ceremony.
Before every boxing match, each competitor does a whole traditional dance which is super elegant & serene.
Then they knock ten bags of shit out of each other! It’s conflicting at best!
However, the Thai instructors here are the best on the planet & they love farangs! (Foreigners)
So get yourself down to a Thai boxing class. Firstly, it’s great fun! Who knew punching bags could be so therapeutic!
Secondly you need to work off all the food you’re going to be eating! 😂😂😂
One of my favourite things to do is to sink a nice cold local beer while bobbing about in the Andaman Ocean.
There’s something about being in a warm ocean with a cold beer…
Anyhow, the local brew is called Chang, which means Elephant. And it is a pretty strong beer!
Khao soi is actually a traditional dish from the North of Thailand.
It’s basically chicken or pork with noodles. But the curry sauce they use is to die for!
You’d find it on offer all over Chiang Mai for around 50baht a bowl ($1).
But there are a couple places in Phuket that serve a mean Khao Soi & they’re both on the beach!
Coco Club – Boat Lagoon & Bang Tao Beach
Catch Beach Club (more expensive)
Two very traditional Thai dishes, you’ve never tasted anything like it!
Massaman is a curry and you can order it ‘ped’ (spicy) or ‘mai ped’ (not spicy).
It usually comes with chicken on the bone which I dislike so I always ask for it off the bone.
The best Massaman on the island is served at a little shack on the beach near the Angsana Hotel called The Beach Bar.
Get there at around 5.30pm to watch the sunset at the same time! Heaven!
Ok I’m going to admit, I still haven’t been to this!
I’m going soon & will update the post as and when I do, but by my friends accounts, this is a hilarious night out.
It’s basically a restaurant that turns into a table top, risqué ladyboy cabaret show later in the evening.
Apparently they have you dancing on table, singing & just generally engaging in light hearted tomfoolery.
Not for the faint hearted I’ve been told!
There are lots of street markets & walking streets around Phuket.
Two of the best are the Friday night market in Cheong Talay which sells the most incredible fried dumplings.
(Seriously I wonder why I struggle with weight).
And the Sunday walking street market in Phuket town, which serves the most amazing Korean Chicken!
It also has loads of Knick knacks and brand Knock offs you can take home to your family & friends.
There are plenty of day trips here in Phuket.
You can head out to Phi Phi, or up to James Bond Island. Go over to Krabi or visit some floating villages. Even see Maya Bay where Leo Decaprio filmed ‘The Beach’.
Lots to see and if you have the time I recommend them all!
However, I highly recommend a private boat tour up to Phang Nga Bay.
Phang Nga bay is singularly the most beautiful place I have experienced in my life!
Miles & miles of ocean punctuated with huge limestone casts with coves & private little hideaways to jump out of the boat & have a swim/snorkel.
It will cost about 8-10,000 (£250) baht for the day, so if there’s a gang of you it’s much cheaper.
Just start asking about at the boat offices in one of the marinas. You’ll get the best deals going direct.
In the middle of the island just North of Phuket Town is a place called Laem Hin.
From here you jump in a long boat & ask to be taken to the floating restaurants.
It’ll cost all of 100 baht each way.
Vegans or vegetarians read no further, but if you love your seafood, please continue!
The restaurants sit atop floating wooden pallets with big holes cut out for the live fish to be stowed.
Grouper, sea bass, shark, crabs, octopus, you name it!
You pick your fish of choice, they ‘fish’ it out of the water with a net & cook it, fresh as a daisy!
If you’re a beer drinker ask to be taken to one of the non Muslim restaurants.
Heading in the opposite direction to Phang Nga bay is a secluded restaurant in the middle of the ocean called Chok Dee.
The boats can’t get moor close enough to let you off on land, so you have to swim the last few meters to get there.
I always feel like I’m in a James Bond movie, emerging from the sea onto this tiny little island with just a restaurant and nothing else!
They have snorkel kits at the restaurant, so you can go and order your food and explore the ocean while you wait! 😁
Right at the bottom of the island off the coast of Rawai, is a little known island called Koh Ton.
So unknown is it, that we only found out about it for the first time in 10 years last year.
The Java Yachting sailing school in Rawai takes people over there on the weekends for sailing lessons.
You can go for a day or the entire weekend. We decided to stay over on Saturday night & ended up being the only ones there!
We stayed in a fabulous little hotel on the island. Basic, but clean, nice food & cheap as chips!
Well worth a trip!
If you’re coming here from the UK & love your Sunday Roasts, they’re actually something they do incredibly well on the island!
My recommendation is a restaurant called Thong Dee in Kathu. The owner Patrick is fab & his wife the chef (who’s Thai by the way) cooks a mean roast!
The Islander in Rawai is another beauty, run by a true Brit called Mark.
Yorkshire’s, mash & roast potatoes abound so be prepared for a big meal!
Also Annie’s kitchen in Cheong Talay & Peppers Sports Bar round the corner offer lovely roasts!
Ok this is my last food recommendation, although I could give hundreds more!
Right in the middle of the island is a huge shopping center or mall depending where you come from.
It’s called Central Festival and on the bottom floor of the section called Central Florista, slap bang in the middle of the supermarket is a meat feast paradise!
If you’re on Keto, or just love meat, this place rocks. Steaks, burgers, chicken, pork, pulled pork, Turkey, chicken parmigiana, you name it, it serves it.
It’s almost like a buffet. All laid out for you to choose what you want & then served up to you at your table.
We love it!
Not strictly in Phuket, but if you come between November & March & love to scuba, I highly recommend the Similan Islands.
In an ideal world, I would recommend 2-3 days on a live aboard.
The best company to go diving with by far is Sea Bees, owned by a big German man with a huge warm laugh & his beautiful & tiny German wife! Holga & Helga.
Their boats are fab, the cabins comfy, the food is great, the diving is better & the company is amazing. The whole trip is a fantastic experience.
If you go tell them I sent you!
You can’t come to the land of the Buddha and not take a meditation class.
I have to say it’s the most unnerving thing.
The chances are there will be a group of you. You’ll be led to a room or a yoga sala, by a calm and softly spoken chap or chapess, decked out in a loose shirt and huge fishermans pants.
They’ll invite you to grab a small cushion and sit on the floor with your legs crossed. (Another awkward moment if you have dodgy knees).
Then they may play some light traditional Thai music in the background or something soft and soothing, tell you to close your eyes and focus on your breath, possibly bang a gong to signal the start of the meditation and then….
You sit there and try desperately to focus on your breath.
“I wonder where we’ll go tomorrow’. Stop it! Breathe, in, out, in, out…
“Oh no, I forgot to respond to Mum’s email earlier’. Come on! Breathe! In, out, in out…
“Gosh that’s an annoying mosquito, buzzing in my ear……
And so it goes for about 45 minutes.
Not my thing I have to say, but definitely worth a try!
Phuket Island is an Island surrounded by Islands!
That’s what makes it so incredibly beautiful. Some of the islands are habitable and house villages, resorts and communities, others are literally a restaurant or a resort on an island and some are simply massive limestone karsts that rise majestically from the depths below!
Koh Yao Yai is the former and is home to a couple of small villages, a few restaurants and various resorts & hotels.
There’s not that much to do on the island, so I wouldn’t recommend staying there, unless you’re looking for total peace and seclusion, but it’s definitely worth grabbing a long boat over, renting a moped and driving around.
You can even take a boat over to Koh Yao Noi for the heck of it!
There are watersports, lots of local Thai food, beaches and the beautiful scenery of Phang Nga bay surrounding. A great (and cheap) day trip out!
As I write this, I’m having a massage. I find the best way to write blog posts is laying back, having my feet & legs massaged while typing into my phone!
It’s an incredibly relaxing way to run a business!
The massages here in Thailand are phenomenal! Rarely will it cost you more than around $10 for an hour and you can choose from a plethora of options!
I recommend the foot, neck, back & shoulders and a full body oil massage!
Go on, treat yourself. You deserve it! 😁
There are a couple of really lovely elephant sanctuaries on the island that are well worth visiting.
Treetops is run by a very lovely English lady called Louise and her husband.
They came over to Thailand to run the Elephant Sanctuary pre Covid, but as the tourists disappeared during the pandemic the Thai family who owned it ran out of money and started looking for buyers.
Out of their love for these gracious animals, Louise and hubby, scraped together every penny they could from their personal savings and bought the sanctuary and its eight resident elephants!
Every visit they get now goes towards feeding and caring for the elephants.
The PakLok elephant sanctuary is also a fabulous half day out. The elephants are well cared for and the customer experience is superb as they show you the elephants in their natural habitat and also bathing and playing.
As part of your package you also get breakfast and lunch which is a bonus (of course) and it’s an absolutely gorgeous vegetarian Thai lunch which was an unexpected surprise given the surroundings.
I have to be honest Thailand is not well known for its temples (although it does have quite a few).
If you want some temple madness then you really need to head up to see the temples (Wats) of Bangkok. Or for some really interesting and breathtaking temples, the best I have seen are in Chiang Rai right up in the North of Thailand.
However if you are intent on getting some Instagram worthy temple snaps while you’re here in Phuket here are the top five I recommend;
- Wat Chalong – the largest and most visited temple in Phuket
- Wat Khao Rang – fabulous golden Buddha at the top of Rang Hill in Phuket Town. Also fabulous Phuket viewpoint, lots of monkeys and a nice little restaurant at the top.
- Wat Sri Sunthon – this is actually closed to visitors at the moment, but well worth a look from the outside. The giant relaxing golden Buddha is a site to behold!
- Wat Phra Nang Sang – one of the oldest temples in Phuket, it’s absolutely beautiful!
- Tha Rua Shrine – This is super close to my house on Thepkasattri Road in the middle of the Island. Guarded by the sweetest old man who will grab you by the hand and show you round the inside of the temple (for a small donation) and tell you in detailed Thai, the history of the shrine! (Just listen and smile). It’s a beautiful building with a huge statue of a Chinese Warrior to the side of it. Very impressive.
Technically a temple, but deserving of its own section, The Big Buddha on Chalong Hill is absolutely stunning and well worth a visit.
Please make sure you have a sarong or shawl to cover your shoulders and your knees ladies. However if you don’t, don’t worry because they have sarongs that they will give you as you enter the compound.
As you arrive you first go through a small area, with little donation trees and trinkets to buy, although you’re in no way obligated.
You’re then led towards a monk who you kneel before (not so good if you have dodgy knees) and he blesses you and gives you a little bracelet. This does not, of course, occur for free and you are expected to leave a small donation out of the kindness of your heart.
You then walk through the back of the little temple out onto the steps leading up to the Big Buddha and climb your way up to the huge white statue which is incredibly impressive.
I do believe they also now have a section with Buddha’s footprint. Please note, it wasn’t there when I first arrived 10 years ago and is a recent addition. As Buddha hasn’t walked this earth since some 2000 years ago, I’m not actually sure whose footprint it is, however with an open mind it’s a wonderful experience.
NB: Please do not engage in any of the elephant activities en route up to the big Buddha.
There are elephant rides being offered and I can tell you now the elephants are not treated very well and they’re not happy animals, so the less we tourists can actually facilitate the treatment of these poor animals the better.
Of course the most amazing thing about Phuket is its plethora of beautiful beaches. I’m not sure I’ve seen such a collection of incredible beaches anywhere else in my life!
We’re talking miles and miles of beautiful white soft sand, the warm Andaman Sea with crystal clear calm waters, palm trees, fantastic little cheap shacks offering the best of Thai food and cold beers.
The beach experience here in Phuket is second to none.
Many restaurants and bars set themselves up on the beaches and offer umbrellas and beach beds etc for very reasonable prices.
Every few years the government brings in the bulldozers and runs them all down (the buildings, not the people), as in reality it’s all protected National Park land. But after the dust has settled the industrious Thais just set back up again.
First with completely mobile units so they can leave in a flash and then after a while more permanent structures are created.
They have to eat after all and tourism is their main bread and butter. So when you visit, support the locals if you can and eat the most amazing Thai food from these fabulous cheap beach shacks!
The best beaches are all dotted along the west coast of the island.
Here are some of my favorite beaches in priority order;
Bang Tao Beach – the beach I visit the most. Easy to park, lots of great beach restaurants, calm waters, sun beds. Everything you need from a beach day out!
Surin Beach – White sandy beach, turquoise crystal clear waters
Layan Beach – Shallow and calm, great for kids & dogs
Nai Harn Beach – Never ending huge sandy beach
Freedom Beach – Backpackers paradise, great atmosphere
Kata Noi Beach – Clean & clear waters
Karon Beach – Huge long stretch of white sand
Kata Beach – Lots of restaurants & cafes
Patong Beach – The main tourist area. Not my favorite beach, but no way I could talk about Phuket beaches without including it!
Colloquially known in our house as (non politically correct), dirty street.
This is generally where dirty old men (mainly westerners) hang out to meet the ladies of the night.
Full of ping pong bars & gentleman’s dancing clubs, it’s a hive of activity for guys who can’t get it without paying for it.
However it’s also got some really nice little bars & restaurants, street breakdancing, nightclubs & is definitely worth experiencing even if you only do it once.
Please please don’t support the disgusting sex trade. These poor girls look like they enjoy it & that you’re the best thing since sliced bread, but that’s because they have to send money back to their families!
They don’t honestly like you Mr Fat, sweaty westerner. Many have been sent to work by their fathers who believe that’s all they’re worth.
Girls as young as 13 are trafficked, drugged and sent to work in some of these places. Is that what you’d want for your daughter?
Just think, next time you justify a quick rub & tug!
Phuket old town is a lovely little town full of restaurants, bars, markets and quaint unique shops full of artisanal goods.
It’s well worth a look around.
I would head over at lunchtime on the weekend, dine at Naturel, a lovely little Thai restaurant built into a tree, then…..
Phuket town is home to one of the many Phuket weekend night markets.
The one at Phuket Town takes place on the main Thalang Road on Sundays from 4pm.
There used to be a huge Phuket weekend night market, just outside of Phuket Town at Naka Road. Unfortunately it closed down during the pandemic and although has started to reopen now, isn’t quite the spectacle it once was.
Though it might be by the time you read this!
Another great market on the outskirts of Phuket Town is the Chillva Night Market. Lots of great food options and niknaks like bags, plants, shoes, clothes, souvenirs etc.
Lastly, one of my favorite markets is in another part of the island called Cheong Talay. The Friday night market close to Boat Avenue is small but lively.
They always have a live band or break dancers or some form of entertainment, plus there are lots of restaurants and bars.
You can sit outside, watch the sunset, listen to music, sip a cold one and watch the world go by. It’s fab!
Phuket has some amazing viewpoints, which are absolutely worth a snap or two!
Here are some of my faves;
Khao Rang – Great views of the South West of the Island. Lovely little restaurant at the top and the golden Buddha temple
Monkey Hill – See lots of Macaque monkeys on route!
Karon Viewpoint – see Kata Noi, Kata Yai & Karon beaches
Laem Singh – Between Kamala Beach & Surin Beach, Laem Singh is a beautiful beach in its own right and a lookout point. To get to the beach you’ll need to get a boat from another beach.
Promthep Cape – Known for witnessing the most amazing sunsets, it’s the Islands southernmost hill with a fantastic view of miles of ocean!
Samet Nangshe – 30 minutes drive North of Phuket, Samet Nangshe gives unrivaled views of Phang Nga Bay, one of the most beautiful places on earth!
So I talked above about taking a private boat up into Phang Nga Bay, however a cheaper route would be a day long boat trip with one of the boat companies here in Phuket.
A trip to Phi Phi, usually includes a couple of stop offs at local beaches, some snorkeling stops, an unforgettable visit to Maya Bay and of course lunch and an exploration of the main Phi Phi Island.
A trip up to James Bond island (my favorite trip) takes you up through Phang Nga Bay.
You’ll see the massive limestone karsts on your journey, stop to explore caves, go sea canoeing (which is great fun), see the famous rock featured in the James Bond movie ‘The Man With Golden Gun’ and depending on the tour you take, will lunch at a fascinating muslim floating village called Koh Panyi.
It’s a great day out!
This wouldn’t be my first choice when coming to Phuket on holiday, but if you have kids, this is a great place to wile away an afternoon!
Like many other trick eye museums around the world, extremely clever artists have painted various scenes into the walls and floors and depending where you stand and where your accompanying friend taking the photo stands, it can look like you’re crossing a huge ravine, about to be eaten by a shark, surfing a huge wave, etc.
Lots of fun for all the family!
You cannot visit Phuket or Thailand for that matter, without taking a Thai cooking class!
Thai food is some of the best in the world and even if you can’t cook (like moi), it’s still such a fun experience!
The best cooking school here in Phuket is the Blue Elephant Cooking School. Set in a huge mansion, it’s a half day class with lots of others all wanting to learn how to cook Thai food. So it’s loads of fun!
The Chefs are spectacular and if you take the morning class (which I recommend), they’ll take you out to the morning market to buy all the ingredients, which is an experience in itself!
Then back to the kitchen you’ll go to whip up wonders like Massaman Curry, Papaya Salad, or Grilled Seabass!
And don’t think they’ll skimp on dessert either. If there’s one thing the Thai’s love, it’s their desserts (no idea how they’re all so thin).
You might be lucky enough to be making mango & sticky rice, steamed coconut pudding, or banana pudding.
Just writing about it is making me hungry!
Well worth the experience!
I’ve included this as it is one of the more traditional recommended things to do in Phuket.
But seriously, if you’ve ever been to Yosemite, seen any big waterfalls in Australia, New Zealand, the US or anywhere else in the world, whatever you do, don’t go for the waterfall.
While a pleasant site and you can swim in the rock pools in wet season, it’s by no means a stunning waterfall which is going to bowl you over!
The hike is nice through the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park (although take mozzie repellant) and if you fancy a break from the sun & sea for the day, the trees make for a nice cool canopy.
But I wouldn’t get excited and make it a central trip to see an amazing waterfall as I fear your hopes might be dashed!
I have to admit I have never been to the Chalong Bay Rum Distillery. Mainly because I don’t drink rum or gin, which are the two featured drinks here.
I’ve heard it’s a good trip however and at 300THB a person ($9) for a 30 minute tour, plus a free Mojito sounds like a good deal!
For the rum & gin lovers amongst you, they also offer daily cocktail workshops at 2pm or 4pm. Ooh! Happy hour! Nice 🙂
Asian fireshows are legendary!
With no regard for public (or their own) health and safety whatsoever, Thai men & women risk burns and injury every night to twirl fireballs over the heads, swing chains with flaming blocks, light huge circular girandola with firecrackers and rockets and if you’re lucky, sit you right in the middle of it while breathing flames above your head!
It’s hugely exciting!
Seriously though, they are a spectacle and worth heading to a local beach to see a nightly (depending on the season) or Friday night fireshow.
We hired a team to do a show for our wedding in Phang Nga and it was nothing short of spectacular!
Check with your hotel when you arrive where and when the nearest fireshow is on.
There are a multitude of things to do in Phuket, but I think I’ve covered the main ones!
From sunbathing on one of the many various beaches, to eating fabulous Thai dishes, sailing around Phang Nga Bay or watching a sunset while sipping a cold one, the one thing I can guarantee you is that this is a beautiful part of the world.
If you’re unsure about holidaying in Thailand or even in Asia for that matter, you need to know how safe it is here and how wonderful South East Asian people are from Thailand to Cambodia, to Vietnam! They are seriously the friendliest people in the world.
So before you head off, let me tell you a few more things about Phuket you need to consider and know before coming.
The currency is Thai Baht – the exchange rate at the time of writing is $1 = 33THB / £1 = 44THB
While many of the local Thais don’t speak a word of English, most that are in the service trade, ie, hotels, restaurants, shops etc, speak fluently or enough to get by.
You won’t have a problem speaking English over here.
I’m not going to lie, there are a lot of mosquitos. You’ll rarely get bothered on the beach, it’s when the dusk is settling in and you’re sitting near a body of water like a pool or a lake, that they may start to feast.
The Thai’s are very good at spraying so in most of the hotels they pride themselves in eliminating the mozzies as much as possible. However, if you’re prone to mozzie bites, come prepared.
Unfortunately some of the mozzies in Thailand come with a little gift in the form of dengue fever. Touch wood in 10 years I’ve never had it, although I’m pretty immune to mozzie’s these days. But it is real and if you get it, it will make you feel like crap!
Mozzie spray is your friend!
You can deet up or go for an all natural lemongrass type spray. I find most work. Best to spray in the evenings or if you’re going jungle hiking anywhere.
This is a Buddhist country with a large muslim population also, so dress appropriately.
When visiting temples be sure to take a sarong or shawl and don’t wear shorts that reveal bum cheeks, no matter how pert they are!
On the beaches you’re fine in tiny bikinis, but keep those tops on ladies as a show of respect.
Not in the major shopping centers or malls. They’re very used to Westerners by now, so most places are more westernized these days.
However, if you’re told to take your shoes off to enter someone’s home or a small side street chemist etc, then please do. You’ll likely be wearing flip flops anyway so it’s no big deal!
Yes. Masks are mandatory. There is a fine for not wearing a mask.
However, they have become a lot more relaxed in the last few months and in most outdoor restaurants, at beaches etc, you won’t be expected to wear a mask.
Just use your common sense!
Yes. It’s a law called Lese Majeste.
The Royal Family are greatly revered by the Thai people and as such it is a criminal offense to say, write or post anything negative about the royal family that comes with a 15 year jail sentence!
On the other hand, it’s a wonderful experience to see everyone stand up to the King’s Anthem before a movie starts in the cinema.
This depends on how sensitive your stomach is.
If you eat in the hotels, beach shacks and local restaurants you should be absolutely fine. The only place to be a little careful are the street markets.
The medical system over here is second to none. If I were back in the UK and I had something seriously wrong with me, I’d come back over here to get treated.
If you have anything at all which causes you concern head straight to the Bangkok Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town. (Take your passport)
You’ll be whipped straight in to see a doctor or into the emergency room for treatment.
The hospital is clean, modern and everyone speaks a good level of English.
You will be charged, but unless it’s something really serious which requires an operation or hospital stay, it’s very affordable.
As long as you’re here between November and April and you can indeed swim, you should be absolutely fine swimming here in Phuket.
There are jellyfish at times, but most are non stingers. I have heard of the odd box jellyfish incident but not in Phuket, or not recently anyway.
The Andaman sea is warm and mostly calm, but like any other ocean, there are rips and it is the habitat of many sea creatures so nothing is guaranteed.
All I can tell you is that I’ve never seen a shark, I’ve bumped into a few jellyfish without incident and every now and again a croc is spotted and caught!
You’ll be fine!
I myself have never had an issue. In fact I left my phone on a restaurant table once and a guy chased me down the street to give it back to me!
We regularly leave our house doors open, our car doors open and I’ve never felt safer in any other country.
Saying that, there’s crime like anywhere else in the world.
So be vigilant, don’t leave valuables laying around. Lock your passports in the safe in your room and ladies, don’t wander around in dark alleyways on your own at night!
Just be sensible and use common sense.
Whatever you do, don’t use international roaming from your own country. That will cost you an arm and a leg!
When you arrive in Thailand, grab a Dtac or TrueMove Sim card from a vendor at the airport. Sign up to a 2 week package for about 300Baht ($9) and use that.
You’ll likely also be able to use the WiFi in the hotel and most restaurants bars and cafes have good wifi.
In fact the Wifi here in Thailand is brilliant so if you have to do some work while you’re here or you’re a digital nomad, it’s great!
You can pretty much use your phone or cards almost everywhere nowadays.
If you want to buy stuff at the markets or from beach hawkers they’ll usually want cash and if you intend to leave tips at restaurants or tip the guys at the hotel you might want a little cash.
Tips by the way are optional (but a nice thing to do) and it’s up to you how much you give. I usually give 100THB to the guy who brings my luggage to the room, and 15%-20% in restaurants and cafes.
Phuket got hit hard by the pandemic.
As an island that relies on tourism, for it to just stop in the abrupt way it did, it all but ruined the economy.
Many Thais returned home to their families in the North and North East to help out running the farms or small family businesses.
Many with nowhere else to go stayed and starved.
As Farangs (foreigners) in their country from 2020 to date, we banded together, raised lots of cash and delivered food bags to families and villages across the Island.
Many foreign companies donated millions, schools did big fundraisers and many just dug deep.
Tourism is slowly starting to recover and you can see the island starting to come alive again, but they’ve still got a way to go.
By coming to Phuket you’ll be supporting the local economy and feeding families. I guarantee you’ll be welcomed with open arms!

“Keyword research tips” is a fairly competitive keyword and in reality I shouldn’t be ranking for it. But if you’ve come across this blog post via google search, then I’ve done what I teach and have both researched my keywords and published relevant content accordingly!
I have been working on my blog for almost two years and it’s really only in the last 3 – 6 months that I’ve finally realized how important getting keyword research right is!
It’s not that keyword research is complicated. It’s really not.
It’s just that so many guides and SEO specialists forget they were once beginners and seem to leave out some serious fundamentals that are worth learning early on.
Or they focus on advanced tactics that leave you bewildered and confused, not knowing how to even get started.
Instead, what I want to share is the exact 6 step keyword research strategy I’m using right now to rank in the google search results and gain traffic to new blog posts.
This is perfect for beginner bloggers looking to learn the ropes and do keyword research the right way.
Here are my top 6 keyword research tips to help you get started with a bang!
Table of Contents
Otherwise known as “seed phrases”, these are the overarching topics that you will be looking to cover through your blog.
Say for example you run a blog in the health and fitness niche. Your main keywords might be things like:
- Keto Recipes
- Home Based Gym Equipment
- Strength Training for Beginners
At this stage of the keyword research process, all we’re doing is defining the major categories of content or topics that your website will include.
Don’t worry about being too specific here.
You simply want to think about which keywords are relevant to your target audience.
For example, if you plan on targeting vegan health and fitness fanatics, some great seed keywords to include would be:
- Vegan bodybuilding
- Meat-free diet
- Plant-based protein
If your niche is very specific, then you may only come up with 4 or 5 keywords here.
These are merely categories.
Think about the top 2-5 categories you want your blog to cover & start there.
Next, we’re going to mine the internet to find dozens, and even hundreds, of awesome keyword ideas.
It’s time to start breaking things down. Your first stop should be Google itself.
Head on over to the search tool and begin typing in your keywords. Google will immediately give you a gold mine of keyword ideas that people are searching for.
We instantly know that those looking for advice on becoming a vegan bodybuilder want to know about things like:
- Diet plans
- Meal preparation
And remember, these suggestions are based on thousands (if not millions) of previous Google searches.
So we know that these are the main things that people are looking to learn more information about when searching for vegan bodybuilding advice.
Next, we want to go ahead and use another free Google tool, the Keyword Planner.
Immediately, we are presented with new keyword ideas. Some of them don’t even include the words “vegan” or “bodybuilding”.
Why is that?
It’s because the tool recognizes that people searching for “vegan bodybuilding” are also interested in topics like “vegan muscle building” and “plant-based bodybuilders”.
It also picks up on two people, Patrik Baboumian and Barny Du Plessis, because these are two of the world’s most famous vegan bodybuilders.
Dang Google, you smart!
To get even more value out of this tool, I recommend searching for a string of your general keywords all together, like this:
As you will see, the Google Keyword Planner also presents you with some data on each of these search terms.
- Average monthly search volume – Such a broad range can make it hard to decide if a keyword is really worth targeting. But below I will show you how to get more accurate data.
- Competition – This is how competitive it is to bid on this keyword through Google AdWords. It doesn’t mean how hard it is to rank for this keyword organically.
- Top of page bid – These two numbers are the estimated CPC when bidding on these through Google AdWords. These can be useful in showing which keywords may offer good affiliate earning opportunities further down the road.
Next in our list of rockstar keyword research tips;
In as little as 15 to 20 minutes, you can use the above two steps to generate dozens of great keyword phrases and opportunities for your blog.
However, how do you know which ones are best to target?
Which ones will be easiest to rank on the google search engine results pages?
Which ones will earn your blog money?
It’s time to better analyze and filter these keywords that you’ve dug up using a paid tool.
If you’re just starting out blogging, then you may be averse to spending money on keyword research tools at this stage. And I’m not gonna lie, some of these tools can seem quite pricey.
But trust me, they are worth it!
The sorts of statistics they offer you far outweigh the costs. They will quickly help you identify which keywords are worth targeting, and which ones to steer clear of for now.
For the below examples, I’m going to be using Ahrefs.
For a new blogger, this SEO tool can seem a little daunting, offering an almost endless array of data that goes far beyond keyword research. But don’t worry, you don’t need to use everything.
Using the “Keywords Explorer” tool within Ahrefs, here’s what it tells me about a keyword I found in step 2.
Let’s break the data down …
This is perhaps the most useful statistic they give you.
A number between 1 and 100, which measures how hard it would be to rank for this given keyword, based purely on how many linking domains each article on page 1 has.
As a rule of thumb, I would recommend beginner bloggers target keywords with a difficulty score no higher than 20.
If your domain authority is zero, looking for opportunities below keyword difficulty of 10 would be even better.
Above this number and it can take years of link building to get your guide to rank. Instead, we want to focus on quicker wins which will help you to boost organic traffic in the short term.
Volume is the estimated search traffic this keyword receives each month from the country you have specified.
In the screenshot above, you’ll see that this is for traffic from America alone. Look at the far right of the screenshot for a more accurate idea of global search volume for that keyword.
It also gives you a trend graph showing how search traffic for that term fluctuates throughout the year.
CPC is Cost Per Click. The estimated cost of paying for that keyword in Google AdWords. Again, this can be a useful indicator of the value of a given keyword.
Once again when you’re just starting out, it’s absolutely fine to target keywords anywhere between 50 – 500 volume.
You can try higher volumes, but as a new site google needs to learn to trust you before it ranks you, so a good strategy would be to target long tail keywords (keyword phrases with more than 3 words), with a keyword difficulty below 10 and a volume of between 50 – 500.
That will help you to start getting ranked without needing a ton of backlinks.
As you scroll down the page further, you will find even more information relating to this keyword.
It gives you a great breakdown of the articles currently ranking in the top 10 positions.
Again, try not to be put off by the data. Here are the crucial things to look for:
This is a number between 1 and 100 which measures how strong a website’s backlink profile is compared to every other website in the world.
Those with DR’s of 90 and above are huge authority sites, while those less than 10 are brand new blogs with very few links.
You’re looking for websites that are ranking in the top 10 for your chosen keyword with a DR below 50.
This means that Google is happy to rank websites here that don’t have the world’s strongest backlink profiles.
On the flip side, if you see that the only websites they rank have a DR of at least 50 and above, there is a much lower chance you will break into those google search rankings any time soon.
This is similar to DR, but is instead based solely on how many domains that specific URL has linking back to it.
As you can see, some websites have an extremely high DR, but a relatively low UR. Meaning, the website as a whole has many backlinks but that exact page has very few.
I recommend making sure at least one of these pages has a UR of below 20. If not, then it is again a signal that Google is only looking to rank authoritative pages for this keyword.
Step 3 of this process can be a little bit time-consuming, but it really is worth it!
Using the guidance above, you can narrow down your rough list of keywords and find the specific keywords that are worth your time targeting.
Here’s a quick summary to follow …
- Plug your keywords into a research tool like Ahrefs and Ubersuggest to gain much more accurate data on whether a keyword is worth exploring.
- Only target long tail keywords that have a keyword difficulty of 20 or below (10 or below is even better) and a search volume between 50 – 500.
- Ensure page one of Google ranks at least 1 website with a DR below 50.
- As well as at least 1 website with a UR below 20.
- CPC is a great metric to be aware of. Those with higher values are typically more valuable to target and could have better revenue-generating potential for you.
Up till this point, the main keyword research tips discussed and the focus of your keyword research has been to find keywords that the entire blog post will focus around.
However, that is only half the battle.
To eventually rank this article, it is useful to sprinkle your blog post with other related keywords.
These are known as LSI keywords, short for Latent Semantic Indexing.
In human terms, it simply means keywords that search engines think closely correlate with the target keyword.
I recommend sourcing 15-20 of these before beginning to write your article, as they play a crucial role in how you structure your post and how well you weave them into the copy.
Finding LSI keywords is quite straightforward. It involves using all the same tools already discussed in this guide.
Remember earlier when we used this to help generate ideas?
It’s a simple and useful way to find which words Google thinks most closely relate to your chosen focus keyword.
Say, for example, you settled on targeting the keyword “vegan bodybuilding diet”. Here’s what Google suggests …
If you include most of those words boxed in red, you will be giving Google content that they believe is most widely related to “vegan bodybuilding diet”.
Based solely on this data, you may want to add some extra sections to your content that you hadn’t even thought of before.
In this case, you’d consider including a downloadable PDF, as well as a diet for men and another for women.
Now go ahead and search for your initial keyword, and scroll to the bottom of the page for the “Related searches”.
These are an absolute goldmine of LSI keyword ideas. And once again, are based solely on searches related to your target keyword.
These are often extremely niche. For example, let’s take a look at the search volume for “3000 calorie vegan bodybuilding meal plan”:
With just 0-10 searches per month, it’s clearly not worth writing an entire post dedicated to this one keyword.
However, it would work well as an additional small section inside of a much larger post.
When including these relevant keywords in your content, you don’t necessarily have to include them exactly as they are shown here.
Many of them, like “vegan bodybuilding diet female” don’t make grammatical sense, and may come across as keyword-stuffed if pasted in as it appears.
A variation such as “female vegan bodybuilding diet”, or even “vegan bodybuilding diet for women” will be just as effective.
Finally, I recommend heading back to your chosen keyword tool, be it the Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, or even another one, and searching for your chosen keyword phrase.
Then scroll down and pick out a handful of keyword suggestions that you think will work well in your content.
There are more steps you can take beyond this, but honestly, using these simple 3 steps will drum up a wide enough pool of LSI keywords.
I recommend aiming for around 15 to 20.
When it comes to using them, simply sprinkle them sporadically throughout your post, only once or twice each.
Also, try to use them in the h2 and h3 headings of your post, as well as in the alt attributes when naming your images.
By this part of the keyword research process, you should have identified:
- Which target keyword you will be focusing on
- Which LSI keywords you can use to supplement the article
But before you begin writing your post, I want to briefly touch on a crucial step.
Identifying search intent.
This is the process of understanding exactly what a reader is looking for when searching for your target keyword.
This is a huge part of your search engine optimization strategy.
Let’s take the example of “vegan bodybuilding diet”. What do people want to see when they search for this in Google?
You might imagine they will be looking for meal plans; or maybe inspiration; or perhaps the downsides of this diet. Let’s see what Google has to say …
What do we see?
Google is prioritizing articles that focus around the angle of “meal plans”. Meaning, when people search this keyword they want to be given meal plans to follow.
They don’t want to read:
- 10 Benefits of a Vegan bodybuilding diet
- Is a vegan bodybuilding diet right for me?
- The risks of following a vegan bodybuilding diet
Instead, after analyzing millions of searches over more than 2 decades, Google is showing people content that is oriented mostly around meal plans.
So when writing your content, be sure to go down a similar path.
Yes, your content needs to be 100% unique, but it also needs to be laid out in a format that Google is more inclined to rank.
If Google only ranks list posts for a given keyword, you will need to write a list post. If they only rank “how-to” style guides, then yours should be too.
The last two keyword research tips aren’t strictly keyword research but are just as important in your efforts to rank your content.
6. Write Better Content!
As this is a guide on keyword research tips for beginners, I don’t want to spend too much time talking about writing your blog posts.
But here is a crucial lesson you need to remember:
Unless your content is BETTER than what is already ranking in Google, you won’t stand a chance.
Sounds simple right?
But very few bloggers (even experienced ones) actually understand this point.
Yes, keyword research is extremely important and you should now have curated a list of awesome keywords to target.
But don’t think you can simply write 300 or 500 words on the topic and hope that it jumps to page one of Google.
Instead, you need to find a way to make it stand out from the masses. So, what do we mean by better content?
- Longer content – It’s been shown that longer content does better, ideally 2,000-3,000 words. Don’t waffle for the sake of it, just be sure to thoroughly cover whatever your topic is on.
- Unique angle – Find a way to approach your article that is unique and interesting for readers. This will help it to stand out and for people to click your article compared to someone else’s
- Plenty of multimedia – Google loves content that is rich and diverse. So include plenty of pictures, graphs, and even videos throughout your content, helping to better highlight the points you are making, and boosting the average time someone spends on that page.
Sure, there are more things to do, such as writing a great headline, getting backlinks, and gaining more social shares.
But by following these 3 content suggestions and the rest of the seo keyword research tips in this article, you’re putting your blog in the best possible position to succeed.
So to wrap up my rockstar keyword research tips, here’s the last tip for you;
There’s not a lot of point in putting in all this effort to find the right keywords if you’re not going to track your results.
Adding google analytics to your blog & adding your blog to google search console will take just a few minutes of your time.
The benefits from doing so are vast.
Analytics will tell you where your visitors are coming from, which pages they’re landing on the most, how long they stay, which pages they go to next, whether they found you through search, social media or direct, and loads more.
Google search console focuses on google search only.
It tells you how many impressions your posts get in the search results, your click through rate, the main keywords you’re being found for and loads more.
They’re both free so take just a few minutes to set them up and you’ll have a raft of data at your fingertips to use to improve your blog content & keyword research even further!
Setting up Google Analytics
Go to google.com/analytics and sign up for an analytics account.
Add your website details within the ‘property setup’ section and then click on ‘property settings’ section from within your analytics dashboard.
From here, you’ll find the UA number assigned to you by google.
Now install the GA Google Analytics plugin and add your UA code to the “GA Tracking ID’ section.
Watch the traffic start pouring in!!!
Connecting to Google Search Console
Head to Google Search Console
Add your website details.
Then follow one of the routes to verify your site ownership.
The easiest is probably to use your google analytics account, however if you have Yoast SEO installed, you can also add your search console verification details in there.
Please note if this step is a bit confusing and you’re not sure what to do, head to upwork.com and pay $20 for someone else to do it for you!
Start monitoring your hard earned search traffic!
As a beginner blogger, if you’ve ever asked the question ‘Why Is Keyword Research Important?’, I’m hoping this article with my 6 keyword research tips has given you the answer!
To get ranked on the google search engines takes great content, time, patience and for more competitive keywords a boat load of backlinks.
It starts with great keyword research.
Don’t make the mistake I did and ignore keyword research. It’s the secret to getting your website off the starting blocks and into the big leagues.
As your website grows and your rankings & traffic increases, you’ll be able to target more competitive keywords with higher monthly volumes and over time will start to see your traffic multiply massively.
Keep at it, post regularly & don’t give up!
As my job is to find different ways to build a lifestyle business you can run from anywhere in the world, I decided to look into how to make money on TikTok.
In case you hadn’t noticed, the last few years (2020 – 2021 in particular) has seen the megalithic rise of TikTok.
Growing to close to 700 million active monthly users by early 2021, it is now one of the largest social media applications in the world.
And it ain’t just for the kids! As of 2022, 55% of TikTok users are 30+!
So I started playing with TikTok a few months ago to see how TikTok users and influencers are building their brands and monetizing the system!
To say I’ve not had a meteoric rise would be an understatement! The highest views I’ve received so far is 168 on my 30sec ‘weekend at a hotel’ vid.
Follow me here – you know you want to!
But I got sucked in as apparently TikTok is rewarding new accounts with insane levels of engagement.
Hmm, I’ll let you know when that happens!
But with such an enormous user base, many of whom are happy to spend hours endlessly watching videos through their feed, there appears to be plenty of space to make money.
How are people already earning tens of thousands of dollars a month through this platform, despite only having created an account less than 12 months ago?
And how can we get in on the action?
Here are 8 main avenues I’ve discovered that currently exist for making money on TikTok.
Let’s take a look at each of them!
Unless you’re already a well-known celebrity with an audience that just wants to hear from you, no matter what you’re talking about, you probably won’t get far without a reasonably well-defined niche.
Your niche is your chosen corner of the internet. Rather than simply opening TikTok and recording a video about whatever you want to say that day, you ideally need to have a category that your content falls into.
For example, you might choose a popular TikTok niche like:
- Home improvement/DIY
And the wider niches, such as politics, education, and comedy can be successful niches if you narrow your focus even further. Instead of “politics,” maybe you create videos dissecting current events from a feminist perspective.
Or if your chosen niche is “comedy,” find a style or two that your audience can reliably expect from you, like skits parodying life in the U.S. south like @caroline_easom does.
@caroline_easom Southern subtext ep.1? #pov #fyp #southern #subtext #comedy #sketchcomedy ♬ original sound – Caroline Easom
A niche is a great way to build a loyal following. If you have a reliable style and type of content you’re more likely to build a base of regular viewership.
And a chunky base of regular viewers is your key to monetize TikTok.
Don’t be afraid to experiment!
It’s a big wide world out there and it might take you a few videos to find your groove.
Right now I’m posting travel videos, which has been a bit overdone, but hey, it’s my life! Soon I’m going to add some more lifestyle business type videos and experiment with different formats, like my face on camera, voice overs, music etc.
That’s the great thing about being completely obscure, you get to test loads of stuff!
Ok with that covered lets; get into the meat of how to make money on TikTok!
The first and most straightforward way to earn money on TikTok is by using the TikTok Creator Fund.
This fund was established in July of 2020 partially as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way for popular TikTok creators to start making money.
Put simply, the more engagement you get out of your videos, the more money you can earn directly from TikTok.
There is no limit to how many creators can join, and there’s also no limit to how much of the fund you can earn on any given day.
TikTok has committed £231 million over the next three years to the Creator Fund, so there’s plenty to go around.
According to the Fund’s guidelines, you’ll need at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 authentic video views in the previous 30 days before you’re eligible to join.
TikTok has done a lot to expand its monetization options lately with the rollout of Creator Next in December 2021.
The Creator Next portal is a central hub for all of TikTok’s monetization opportunities. Not only can you join the Creator Fund, but similarly eligible accounts can accept tips and video gifts directly from viewers.
You can also use the Creator Next online portal to join the Creator Marketplace and collaborate with brands for sponsorships.
One thing to note about joining the Creator Fund (or using other aspects of the Creator Next portal) is that the income you receive can fluctuate daily, so it’s not super reliable.
Also the amount each member gets is based on a lot of constantly-changing factors like:
- Number of views
- The authenticity of those views
- Level of engagement on videos (such as likes, shares, and comments)
- Whether the content is in line with TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
- How many videos were published by the Creator Fund community that day
Another catch to the Creator Fund is that only certain creators are eligible; you’ll need to be based in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, or Italy (and be at least 18 years old) to apply.
Joining the Creator Fund is as simple as applying directly through the app. For detailed instructions on applying, check out this step-by-step guide from Later.
Landing branded sponsorships is a more traditional form of monetizing content online.
Just like you can with your podcast, blog, or Instagram profile, you can use the TikTok Creator Marketplace to find brands to sponsor your TikTok videos!
Sometimes brands will ask permission to sponsor a video you’ve already published, while others will ask you to create a video specifically advertising their product.
One creator, @kallmekris, makes one-woman comedy skits on her highly popular account. She acts out elaborate ads for her sponsors that are engaging for her fans.
@kallmekris #ad Sticky Situation Solution with @vessi ♬ original sound – Kris HC
The requirements for finding sponsors are a little more vague than the requirements to join the TikTok Creator Fund, which makes sense, since it’s up to the brand whether they think your platform is big or successful enough to be worth the advertising investment.
Every situation is different, and it depends on the brand’s goals. If you have a super niche audience base that the brand is trying to target via sponsored content, they may not care if your follower count is low.
Micro-influencer marketing is becoming more popular with brands for that very reason; micro-influencers can have a smaller but very dedicated fan base, while the price tag for sponsorship is much lower than going for a bigger influencer.
In fact, according to Influencer Marketing Hub, micro-influencers get an engagement rate of 18% on TikTok, while mega-influencers get less than 5%.
But as a general rule of thumb, it’s a good idea to get at least 10,000 followers before you start looking for brand deals. And of course, don’t forget to follow TikTok’s Terms and Conditions so that you’re in good standing with the platform.
If you’ve already got a popular account and are interested in posting sponsored content, start by making honest, non-sponsored posts about your favorite brands.
Likes and engagement are great, but if you can demonstrably drive actual sales with your magic links (which can earn you affiliate sales on their own—more on that below), you’ll be much more likely to catch the eye of brands looking to advertise.
Patreon is a really straightforward service, where loyal followers pay you every month to just keep being you!
Creating great content is by no means free, and can be extremely time-consuming.
And people realize this.
That’s why thousands of TikTok influencers make a good living each month just through Patreon, where followers pay a set amount each and every month (usually $5 or more).
This may not sound like a lot, but when you have hundreds, or even thousands, of followers paying these small amounts, it really adds up.
But don’t worry, you don’t need to go begging followers to pay you just for making new funny TikTok videos.
Instead, those who successfully use Patreon are offering something as a reward for their money, such as exclusive member-only content or the ability to talk to them directly and ask questions.
For more inspiration, check out this detailed list of Patreon earners. For some of these TikTok creators, their monthly income through Patreon alone ranges up to a quarter of a million dollars.
So, how do you convince people to sponsor you through Patreon?
Well, it all comes down to what you stand for.
People won’t give you money for the sake of it. Instead, they need to understand your values and believe in your mission.
It helps for you to be doing something truly rewarding with your time, like spreading awareness for a cause, for your audience to fully realize why their financial support is important.
If you’d rather not depend on brands to sponsor you or your audience to support you out of the kindness of their hearts, you have another option: selling your own merch.
The good news is that highly visual platforms like TikTok are great avenues for promoting products. You can give a demonstration of the product on your own account, and viewers will see exactly what it will look like in person.
And while TikTok is a highly effective content channel for promoting products and selling merch, it also comes with low overhead.
You don’t need to worry about paying to promote your products; if you have an audience, they’ll see your videos promoting your merchandise and if it appeals to them, they’ll be able to click through the link in your bio to complete the purchase.
You might sell branded items like:
- Clothing (T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.)
- Tote bags
Or maybe you want to skip the hassle of finding a supplier to slap your logo or custom image onto a T-shirt.
In that case, you’ll likely prefer selling digital products like Erika Cuni, The Burnout Coach, does.
@ericacuni #breakups #selfworth #selflove #believeinyourself #fy #fyp #keepgoing #yougotthis #selfcare #selfrespect #danceitout #realtalk #positive #smile #joy ♬ original sound – The Burnout Coach
Erica’s content is all about dealing with work-related struggles, and she sells related coaching services and training materials on her website—which can be accessed by clicking the link in her bio.
Compared to selling physical products, I would say that digital products can be far more lucrative.
And best of all, they require minimal upfront capital.
Instead, you simply need to invest time and effort in developing a product, such as a course or eBook.
This digital product should be jam-packed full of valuable information and insight and designed to make the buyer’s life better in some way.
And the great news is: after you develop a digital product, you can use TikTok as a way to generate huge sales.
Let’s take Tori Dunlap as an example. Already a successful blogger, she specializes in helping other women become financially independent.
She’s done it for herself already and has packed her knowledge into a select range of digital courses and templates that she sells to other women looking to reach the same success she has.
As TikTok began growing in popularity, she jumped on the bandwagon and quickly grew a following of more than 1.2 million followers in less than a year.
Best of all, the vast majority of these followers are like-minded women who love her short, motivational videos on how women can grow their wealth, starting with as little as $50.
This one video has so far been viewed more than 4.7 million times and encourages people to head over to her website to discover more information about what she can offer.
In her first 6 weeks alone, she made more than $60,000 through TikTok. Not bad at all!
Affiliate marketing is hands down one of the best ways to make money on TikTok.
Because you don’t need to have millions of followers to already start making a decent recurring income.
First, what is affiliate marketing? Simply put, it’s where you receive a commission for promoting somebody else’s product.
Say, for example, you add an affiliate link on your TikTok profile that directs visitors to a page where they can buy a new baseball cap.
In return for generating that sale, you will receive a percentage commission.
These percentages can vary wildly, from just 1-2% all the way up to 50% or more. Better still, many affiliate commissions can be recurring.
So if you recommend someone signs up for a paid monthly service, you receive a commission every single month while that person remains a paying customer.
Okay, let’s say you’ve already crushed the TikTok game.
You’ve built a giant audience of rabidly loyal fans. You consistently get hundreds of thousands of views on your videos, and you’ve mastered the art of going viral.
Sounds great already, right?
Well if that’s you, there’s another monetization option available to you besides the things that are already obvious, like sponsorship and affiliate marketing.
You may also be able to take a leaf out of Sean Young’s book and get paid to teach other brands and creators how to grow their own TikTok follower counts.
Sean Young took his brand of content creation that made him so popular on Vine and turned it into viral content on TikTok. He’s famous for his collaborations with other former Vine creators, as well as creating prank videos like this one:
@seansaucetv CLAP ACTIVATION PRANK👏😂 #prank #prankwar #foryoupage #fyp #seansauce ♬ original sound – Lil tiktok
Now, he earns up to $10,000 a month from consulting with businesses and celebrities who want to build their presence on TikTok.
Lots of people are watching TikTok these days, but it can be tricky for traditional celebrities and companies to find the knack for it. For many, doing well on TikTok is all about learning how to capitalize on the latest trends on the app, so if you have a solid understanding of those, there’s a massive market for your expertise.
This brings me to my last suggestion on how to make money on TikTok!
Another way to use your TikTok micro-influencer status is to build and flip profiles on the app.
There are plenty of businesses and brands that want to have a successful TikTok profile, but they don’t have the patience or inclination to lovingly nurture one from the ground up.
That’s where you come in.
If you enjoy the nitty-gritty of building a social following on TikTok from scratch, you may be able to sell those accounts to brands for a pretty penny.
This solution may sound a bit sketchy, but it’s nothing new. In fact, it’s a monetization strategy made popular on Instagram by users like Ramy Halloun of TooFame.com, who made $120,000 over five years buying and selling accounts part-time.
But if you want to get into account flipping, keep in mind that you’ll need to choose a narrow niche at the outset.
For obvious reasons, relying on your personality or personal anecdotes to keep your audience interested makes it difficult to hand the account over to someone else when you sell it!
So there’s a few ideas for you (and me).
I myself am particularly drawn to the creator fund, selling merchandise & digital products and in time marketing my travel books (which I haven’t written yet)!
Clearly the key is to build up that viewership, so if you haven’t yet, create your TikTok account today and start posting!
You won’t get anywhere just thinking about it!
Did I forget to mention that it’s a really fun platform! I love playing about with videos and editing them to music, etc.
So if video is your jam and you want to have some fun while making money. TikTok may just be the platform for you!
Come and connect with me and we can support each other on this fun filled journey!
According to reporting by Variety, the highest-paid TikTokers in 2021 were Charli D’Amelio, who made $17.5 million last year—followed by her sister Dixie, who earned $10 million.
Of course, there are ways to pay for followers or use other sneaky tactics to grow your audience base. But the best (and most reliable) method is to do it the right way:
- Create highly valuable and entertaining content,
- Post consistently,
- Regularly engage with your commenters (and other creators) on the app!
Sure, TikTok hasn’t been around as long as platforms like Facebook or Instagram. But its money making potential is still sky-high, if you’ve got the social media savvy to build a solid audience.
To start earning money fast, leverage your account’s popularity by joining the Creator Fund, which will pay you based on your engagement (like views and likes).
Then, start experimenting with alternative monetization strategies like sponsorships, affiliate marketing, and selling your own products. And if your TikTok game is strong enough, consider consulting with others or selling accounts to other brands!
- Download the app
- Create your account
- Add a profile pic and a short bio
- Start posting videos
If you’re already running an Amazon Business the chances are you know how important amazon repricing tools are to your business.
To maximize the profitability of your products and ensure you’re consistently beating your competitors to the buy box on Amazon, having the best amazon repricer tool at your disposal is a must.
Gone are the days you could manually survey competitors’ products and price yours accordingly. With a staggering 12 million products for sale on Amazon, many of them the same but different, it’s nigh on impossible to stay up with your competitors pricing strategies.
That’s why an Amazon repricing tool is your answer!
Table of Contents
You have two options for pricing competitively on Amazon – manual repricing or automated repricing via Amazon repricing tools.
Your choice will depend on the number of products you’re selling on the Amazon marketplaces and how much time you’re willing to commit to this area of your online business.
Due to how Amazon works, you’re completely unable to upsell any of your other items, add incentives to engage further with your brand or even build an email list of customers.
This therefore means that the bulk of amazon fba sellers are competing primarily on price, with reviews a very close second.
To compete on price means keeping an eye on your competitor repricing strategies and applying instant repricing, to compete with their product prices.
If you have a singly unique product and aren’t competing with anyone else on the Amazon marketplace then you have nothing to worry about. However, if you’ve chosen a product due to its demand and popularity, the chances are you’re competing with thousands!
Trying to keep up with all their price changes is nigh on impossible. So here’s when an amazon repricer tool becomes your best friend!
Quite simply an amazon repricing tool will automatically manage the price of your products based on your pricing rules and settings, such as your minimum and maximum prices.
This means you don’t have to spend the time trying to manually keep account of what other fba sellers are doing and can sleep soundly at night knowing your product is being priced competitively at all times!
Prices, repricing speeds, customer support, user interfaces, and what marketplace each supports can vary greatly.
There are some that offer greater customization options regarding who you would like to compete with. Additionally, some Amazon repricers will not be available in certain countries.
You may find it helpful to try out a couple of different repricing services (many provide a free trial) and see which one is best for your business based on your needs and budget.
When deciding on an Amazon repricer, here are some things to keep in mind.
- Can the repricer be used on all marketplaces?
- What is the monthly cost?
- Are you bound to a long-term contract?
- How quickly do you reprice your listings?
- Is continuous repricing extra?
- Will you pay your repricing software provider a commission on your sales?
- How flexible and controllable is the repricer?
- Is it possible to choose your competitors and how you want to compete?
- Can I try it for free?

Using AZSellerKit, you can now see your historical Q3 and Q4 sales of an item from 2019, 2020, and 2021. Check out-of-stock days and projected growth before placing your next order. This will revolutionize the way you replenish supplies.

The buy box is the box to the right of your listing which includes the ‘add to cart’ button.
You may think you automatically qualify as soon as you list a product, but unfortunately this isn’t the case.
If you don’t win the buy box or aren’t eligible for it, another seller will show up prominently and you stand the chance of losing the sale.
The way to win the buy box is to price appropriately, ship fast, attract great reviews, and generally be an awesome amazon seller!
One of the fastest ways amazon sellers win the box is if you sell using FBA. This also means you’re instantly eligible to win the box.
However, if you choose FBM or any other method you have to meet certain criteria to stand a chance of winning it, such as a professional seller account, shipping times, selling new items and having plenty of inventory.
Either way, winning the buy box isn’t as easy as simply adding a listing. To get in front of the 82% of buyers who purchase via that all important ‘add to cart’ button, you need to be a great seller with a great product!
To get the best out of your Amazon business, maximize your profits and free up your time to do more of the profit generating promotional tasks, a winning repricing strategy is essential!
Manually repricing your products becomes almost impossible as competitor prices move up and down so fast as other sellers change their pricing strategy.
An amazon automated repricer tool empowers amazon sellers to create an effective repricing strategy which guarantees the best product prices to meet your profit margin.
The best amazon repricer tools offer strategic automated repricing, resulting in more sales.
Your only challenge now is picking out the best amazon repricing software for your needs!
The following is a guest post by Gergo Varga from SEON Fraud Prevention
The development of technology has brought a ton of benefits to our lives. One of the greatest is the ability to work online from anywhere in the world!
Digital nomads & remote workers use technology to work online or conduct their job from wherever they want to.
Since they are location-independent, they can work remotely from virtually anywhere.
This might mean working in their favorite coffee shop, renting a table in a co-working space, or perhaps working from a hammock on an idyllic beach!
Some will want nothing more than to find a small cabin in the middle of nowhere that offers peace combined with amazing views.
Who would’ve even thought this would be possible just a decade or two ago?
While the location they choose may vary, they all have one thing in common. They are facing a higher risk of online fraud or scamming dangers than a traditional worker.
Digital nomads need to be aware of the dangers they face and take the necessary steps to protect themselves. Implementing a proper security & fraud detection strategy, such as SEON’s fraud prevention software, is essential.
Whether you’re a digital nomad, an occasional remote worker, or even if you are currently working from home, you need to be aware of the online fraud dangers you’re facing and how to improve your cybersecurity.
The technology that allows you to work online is also what brings all the online dangers into your life. It has made it easier for cybercriminals to reach more victims than ever, and believe me they are not ones to let the opportunity pass them by.
While cyberattacks can affect anyone, traditional workers are usually protected by their company’s online fraud prevention strategy.
Digital nomads or remote workers typically have to fend for themselves, making them a desirable target for fraudsters.
Geeks Around Global explains that there are many threats you can encounter online, from online fraud, phishing attacks, account takeovers, ransomware, or even data breaches.
Fraudsters can use these attacks to steal your money, exploit data or confidential information or even ruin your reputation and relationship with your clients.
This is why it’s imperative you develop an online fraud prevention strategy to protect yourself or your devices, business, clients, or even your employer or employees.
When working in a physical company, you are obliged to follow the security protocols to ensure the safety of yourself and the company.
But, when you are working remotely or for yourself, security guidelines can easily slip your mind since there is nobody holding you accountable.
However, you owe it to yourself and the work you’ve put into your online business to stay safe. You need to create your own set of security guidelines and stick to them.
Here are 11 online fraud prevention tips to keep your data safe and to help you work confidently from wherever you like!
Your devices are your livelihood. They allow you to lead your digital nomad lifestyle, and without them, you would have no means to continue your work.
This is why protecting them needs to be your priority, whether your laptop, tablet, or even a phone. Without the proper protection, you are risking a security breach.
Before you even start using them for your work, ensure that every device you use is set up to provide you with maximum security.
- Using a firewall and antivirus software can help you protect your device from different types of threats such as trojans, viruses, and malware attacks. In addition to installing firewall and antivirus software, you need to ensure they are regularly updated. Keep all of your devices and online accounts password-protected, and don’t be stingy with antivirus software.
- A simple way to protect your devices is by encrypting them. By encrypting your device to request passwords, pins or biometrics to access your device, you will ensure only authorized people can access it. Ensure that your password or pin is not too easy or commonly used so you don’t make it easier for cybercriminals.
We are not usually as strict with the security of our personal devices as we are with our work devices.
To improve your online fraud prevention and ensure that your sensitive data is kept safe, you should always ensure you don’t use work devices for personal matters.
You probably never thought about your router before, but you need to be aware of the dangers it can bring into your life.
Have you ever changed the default password on your router? You should do it as soon as possible. Create a new complex password and secure the router from cybercriminals.
This is a critical step for any remote worker, especially for digital nomads.
VPNs create a secure and encrypted connection, masking your identity and allowing your details to stay hidden from cybercriminals. This is especially important if you access the internet through a public network, such as at a hotel or a cafe.
Passwords are actually one of the most critical aspects of your online security.
They are the key to your entire life online, and if cybercriminals manage to get access to your passwords, they can cause significant damage. This is why your passwords need to be not only complex but also unique for each account you have.
By having different passwords for every account, you will ensure that in case of a breach, cybercriminals will be able to access only one isolated account and not all of them.
It could be impossible to remember all of these different passwords; try utilizing a password manager like Lastpass.
Protecting your passwords is a hugely important part of your online fraud prevention strategy!
One of the biggest threats digital nomads face when working from various locations worldwide is public WI-FI.
Many of the public WI-FI are infected by viruses, worms, or keyloggers that can be easily transferred to your device and slow it down or even be used to steal your sensitive data.
It could be hard to avoid using it since you can’t guarantee a stable internet connection at all times, especially when leading a nomadic lifestyle.
If you really need to use them, ensure you use a VPN and don’t input confidential data such as your financial details.
Most sites today offer you an option to secure your account by using Two Factor Authentication (2FA) or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Although it’s a bit of a hassle, this gives you an additional level of protection as it requires at least two verification factors, making it harder for cybercriminals to access your account.
Even if a fraudster manages to get hold of your password, they still won’t be able to access your accounts since they won’t be able to provide the details needed for additional verification, such as a one-time code sent to your phone.
The best way to protect your data is by backing it up.
Even if you do get hacked and lose all your data, you will still be able to access your backup and continue working as usual.
This can be a lifesaver in case of a ransomware attack, as you will have access to your data without paying a ransom. Your backup should be online and in physical form for the ultimate protection.
Remember, external hard drives don’t take a lot of space, but they can make a difference between falling victim or staying safe.
Fraudsters will often try to trick people into revealing confidential data that can give them access to your accounts.
They will send you an email pretending they are a trusted source or try to pressure you by providing a time limit and enticing a sense of urgency. If you are mindful of unexpected emails and never click on the link in the email, you can avoid falling victim to their tricks.
Trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid of double-checking something if it seems too good to be true.
Set up your devices to automatically lock when you are no longer using them.
It just takes a second for a fraudster to steal your device; why would you leave all your info wide open?
Can you imagine how easy it would be for them to use your device while you are waiting in a line to get another coffee, and how much damage they could do in that time?
Setting up the automatic lock on your device will protect your devices even if you are not next to them.
If your device gets stolen or lost, the find my device application might be the only way to find it again.
According to Lifewire’s article, if this step is unsuccessful, you can activate remote wipe and delete all the information you have on the device, preventing fraudsters from using it for their benefit.
The online world is full of dangers & opportunists who will stop at nothing to exploit your information.
Unfortunately they’re not going anywhere any time soon.
If you want to keep your business, identity & personal records safe, it’s time to start learning how to protect yourself.
Employ these simple guidelines outlined above, and keep leading your dream digital nomad lifestyle without worries.

As an Amazon seller, you know that having an Amazon virtual assistant can be a huge time-saver.
In fact, as soon as we started to hire Amazon VA’s, our business increased to over three million in revenues over three years.
But what are some specific ways that a Amazon virtual assistant can help you?
In this blog post, I’ll detail 15 ways in which a VA can help you streamline and accelerate your FBA business.
I’ll also provide some tips on how to find a great Amazon virtual assistant who can help you reach your goals!
An Amazon virtual assistant is usually a contract worker, who works remotely, either full or part-time, and provides services such as customer service, data entry, social media management or market research.
You’ll either hire someone who specializes in one area like Amazon PPC or product listing, or you’ll hire a more generalist VA, who can do a wide range of tasks.
Either way, hiring an amazon virtual assistant will save you time, money and stress as you grow your amazon business.
Here are 15 ways an Amazon Virtual Assistant can help you:
Product research is a time consuming and laborious task.
You can considerably speed it up by using software such as Junglescout’s product finder, however a better combination would be the software and an amazon VA working it!
An Amazon Virtual Assistant will research products that are in demand and profitable. They can then help you find suppliers and negotiate prices.
Product sourcing is an equally laborious task, made easier using software such as Junglescouts supplier database.
Your Amazon virtual assistant can use the software to find potential suppliers, do all the outreach and negotiation.
Order and test samples and even deal with all the logistics.
And if you already have an ongoing relationship with a supplier but still find yourself organizing new stock and dealing with shipments, you can hand the lot off to your Amazon VA!
Product listings require high quality images, keyword research to find the most relevant keywords, a keyword rich headline and bullet points, a beautifully crafted product description and more.
An amazon virtual assistant can help you do all of this focusing on listing optimization to ensure your products show up in the Amazon search page and if you hire a professional writer, they can even ensure your product descriptions are top notch!
Once your product has been manufactured and is ready to ship, you’ll need to go into your seller central account and put together all the shipping plans and print up the shipping labels for your suppliers.
This is a job your virtual assistant could do, taking the hassle away from you.
They can also assist in contacting suppliers and coordinating shipments.
Inventory management is a big job for amazon sellers. In fact it tripped us up many times, whether by running out of products, or ordering too much!
Keeping on top of it requires time and focus. This is an ideal task to outsource to your Amazon virtual assistants.
They can help you track your inventory levels and reorder products when necessary. They can also help you create and manage inventory reports.
Although Amazon FBA takes care of the lion’s share of fulfillment, should you ever do FBM (fulfilled by merchant) or run a Shopify store alongside your amazon business, a good amazon virtual assistant can help with all aspects of fbm orders including, order fulfillment, and order processing.
They can also contact customers, update tracking information, and handle customer service issues.
Customer service Amazon virtual assistants are worth their weight in gold.
Customer service tasks can take up a lot of time and headspace so handing this task over to an experienced Amazon VA will be a major time saver in your amazon business.
Your Amazon seller central account health is also heavily weighted by how rapid your customer response times are.
Your Amazon virtual assistants will handle customer inquiries, process refunds, deal with any negative feedback, resolve issues and any other relevant administrative tasks.
There is a reimbursement policy for Amazon FBA, but there are quite a few hoops to jump through to make a claim.
Your Amazon virtual assistant can take the stress off for this task and can help you file for FBA reimbursement.
They can also track your claims and follow up with Amazon customer service who can be a nightmare to communicate with!
Influencer marketing is a fantastic way to get your products in front of your target market.
Unfortunately the process of reaching out to influencers, negotiating the terms of the promotion and then following up and measuring the campaign success, etc is time consuming.
Your Amazon virtual assistant can help by researching influencers, making the first contact, creating campaigns, sending out products and tracking results.
Social media is a massive time suck, but a great way to generate an audience and interest in your products.
For social media to work you need to be on your platforms of choice multiple times a day, networking with others in your niche and responding to comments.
Your amazon virtual assistants can create & publish posts on a daily basis, connect and respond to others within your niche, respond to comments, likes & shares and even run social media ad campaigns.
In fact an Amazon VA I had, even created super cool video campaigns using my products without any time commitment from me!
Running amazon ppc campaigns and working within the amazon marketing services set of seller central tools is both complex and time consuming, even with automated software to streamline the process.
Rather than do this yourself, hire an Amazon VA to do the lion’s share of the work. A well trained amazon virtual assistant will do competitor analysis, create the ad campaigns, monitor the ad budgets, work on ad optimization and measure the results to ensure the best ROI.
Having an FBA virtual assistant working on this full time, likely means more profitable ad campaigns, which translates to a more profitable business.
A great way to boost sales is to run regular promotions and offer coupons for your products.
There are a multitude of ways to promote your coupons, but one of the most effective is to post in all the facebook coupon groups. As you can imagine this can take a considerable amount of time.
Hiring amazon virtual assistants for this role means they can focus on finding the best groups, chatting with the group owners to get the best out of the campaigns and then following up with coupon holders to encourage reviews.
Please note it is against Amazon toc’s to aggressively solicit for reviews, but a gentle, if you love our product, please leave a review is fine.
Give this important but laborious task to your virtual assistant, leaving you time to focus on tweaking and improving your product listings, finding more great products and networking with other sellers to improve your skills and knowledge.
Amazon repricing is quite simply changing the pricing of your products on the Amazon marketplace.
You’ll likely do this if there is a change in how much it costs you to purchase your products, a change in shipping terms or fees, if you’re product isn’t selling well and you want to become more competitive or just to test different price points to see what works best.
Your amazon va can help you price for maximum profitability. A marketing virtual assistant can keep a close watch on your competitors and adjust your prices accordingly to ensure you remain competitive.
A bookkeeping or finance based VA can keep an eye on supplier costs and advise you on when to change pricing to ensure you’re staying at your desired profit levels.
Prime Day is massive! We used to do over 25% of our yearly revenue over the prime day weekend. To get the best of it however, you’ll want to be advertising on and off Amazon, which can take all your attention away from other parts of the business.
Your amazon virtual assistant can help with that!
Either you leave them to ensure all other cogs are still turning, or you enlist their services to help with preparing for and executing your prime day deals expertly!
This is the same for lightning deals. If you have some stock you want to offload or a new product that you want to kick off with a bang, a lightning deal might be the way to go.
Your Amazon VA can book, prep and see the sale through helping you to track results and sales.
Keeping up with Amazon reporting and staying on top of your accounts is a huge task.
In fact, this was one of the first positions we hired for. Your Amazon VA will sort through all the reports and run your bookkeeping system for you.
We used A2X Accounting coupled with Xero.com to sync our accounts with our amazon account, which made the whole process much easier. Plus both platforms offer outstanding customer service.
I think I’ve made a case for how an Amazon Virtual Assistant can be an extremely valuable asset to your business.
So, how do you find the best Amazon Virtual Assistants to help with all the various parts of your business?
Firstly, be careful hiring a VA to do multiple tasks, not related to each other. For example, don’t expect your accounts assistant to also be your amazon ppc guru.
Although many Amazon VA’s are skilled in a multitude of areas, the best route is to hire specialists for those tasks that require a greater level of knowledge and skills and generalists for easier (albeit no less important) jobs.
Here are some great resources for you to find the best VA’s for the tasks you want doing;
Wing Assistants, specialize in ecommerce va’s. With talent mainly from the Philippines & India, you can hire a dedicated part time Amazon virtual assistant for less than $650/month or a full time Amazon VA for less than $1000/month!
From social media management to marketing campaigns, accounts, customer service, Wing caters for all your virtual assistant needs.
For quick and easy onboarding, Wing does all the hard work for you. You simply book a call with a customer success manager, they’ll pair you with an assistant they think can meet your needs, then you setup your account and away you go!

Online jobs is a platform that gives you the opportunity to hire full or part time Filipino virtual assistants.
This is a more bespoke service than Wing, in that you post a job listing on the website for va’s to respond to and pitch for your job.
You can even start looking for free, but to hire will cost you $69/month or $99/month depending how many jobs you’re posting about.
The route to take to get the best of the best from onlinejobs is as follows;
1. Create a job listing that stands out.
Use strong clear headlines and ideally include a video
2. Create an automated email funnel to sort those who follow simple instructions from those who don’t.
To do this, create a new gmail account just for job applications and ask the applicants to email this account with a very specific email headline.
For those who do this, then send them a basic skills test to complete before going to the next stage. Those who complete the basic skills well can either move on to a more advanced skills test or qualify for a Zoom interview depending on how stringent you want to be.

Jobrack.eu is a bit like onlinejobs.ph but all the virtual assistants are from Eastern Europe.
With job rack, you have three different hiring options;
- Do it yourself. Create a job post for a one off fee of $199 and follow the same process as with online jobs.
- They’ll do it with you by assessing your needs and then doing all the heavy lifting of job listing, interviewing, etc and eventually presenting you with 5 – 10 candidates for you to put through a skills test and then interview and select. This service starts at $1500.
- They’ll do it for you, presenting you with the absolute best 2-3 candidates for you to do a final interview and choose from. This starts at $4500.

Freeup pre-vets all the freelancers listed on their platform and only accept 1% of all freelancing applicants. This would indicate that the talent on Freeup is the best of the best.
You can choose from entry level freelancers up to top expert level freelancers, determined by their hourly rate.
Simply create a free account, post your requirements and Freeup will pair you with a freelancer (or more than one if you request), that you can interview and if happy can start working with.
There are no fees for hiring a freelancer on Freeup, but according to this help article, as a client we pay a 20% fee on top of the self defined freelancer rate.
Upwork is probably the platform I have used the most for the longest.
I have had some of my best hires from this platform and highly recommend it for both short one off projects and long term hires.
Simply sign up for free, create a job description for your amazon virtual assistant, select the rough hourly rate you want to pay or fixed price for the overall job and then wait for the bids to come in.
Typically you might get 10 – 20 bids for a job, depending on how specialist it is.
Then you simply shortlist the applicants, hand out some skills tests and hire them accordingly.
Upwork is free to use but I get a 3% charge on all my freelancer payments.
Fiverr is a great platform for smaller, more specialist one off virtual assistant jobs.
If you’re looking to create awesome graphics for your product listing for example. Or you want a video explainer done, a new logo or product design, etc.
The virtual assistants on Fiverr list their skills and you can select the best person for your task by going through the listings and reading their reviews.
Like upwork, Fiverr is free to use, but you will be charged a 5% service fee on top of the job price.
Hiring Amazon virtual assistants helped us to grow our business to over three million in revenues within three years.
Having a team that can both focus on the low value, no income tasks coupled with the most specialized VA’s constantly handing out coupons, working on ad campaigns and assisting to increase sales velocity is incredibly valuable to your business.
The beauty of an Amazon business is that you should start to become profitable quite quickly and I would urge that as soon as you can afford to, you start to onboard a team of effective Amazon virtual assistants to help take your business to the next level.
