Reading Time: 11 minutes

Embarking on your Amazon sales journey? A free Amazon sales estimator can be an invaluable ally in navigating this competitive landscape!

Understanding a product’s average monthly sales is crucial for gauging its popularity among shoppers. This insight helps you manage inventory, project profits, and determine COGS (cost of goods sold).

Although Amazon keeps its sales data under wraps, we’ve done the legwork for you. After evaluating the top 8 free sales estimators, Jungle Scout stands out as the most accurate option.

Join us as we delve into the world of these essential tools and learn how they can propel you to Amazon sales success.

Quick Takeaways:

  1. Most Accurate Tool: Jungle Scout stands out as the most accurate free Amazon sales estimator, with an 84.1% data accuracy rate.
  2. Key Parameters: Three main parameters you need for most estimators are Amazon Marketplace, Best Seller Rank (BSR), and Amazon Product Category.
  3. No Signup Needed: Jungle Scout allows up to 10 free estimates daily without requiring a signup or login.
  4. Additional Features: Besides estimating sales, Jungle Scout also offers tools like Listing Grader, Product Database, and Opportunity Finder for a competitive edge.
  5. Watch Out for Inaccuracy: Some well-known estimators like Helium 10 and AMZScout are not as accurate as Jungle Scout.

What is a Free Amazon Sales Estimator?

A free Amazon sales estimator is a tool designed to help sellers predict the average monthly sales of a specific product or product category on the Amazon marketplace.

These estimators provide valuable insights into product demand, competition, and market trends, enabling sellers to make data-driven decisions when selecting and launching their products.

By entering a product’s Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) or product category, along with additional details like sales rank, the estimator calculates an approximate sales figure for that product.

These predictions help sellers gauge the product’s potential for success and understand the required inventory levels, estimated profits, and COGS (cost of goods sold).

It’s essential to note that these estimators offer approximations, as Amazon does not disclose actual sales data. However, using a reliable and accurate estimator can significantly improve a seller’s decision-making process and enhance their chances of success in the competitive Amazon marketplace.

What Information Do You Need To Use a Free Amazon Sales Estimator?

Most free Amazon sales estimators use three parameters to estimate how many units of a product sell on Amazon every month.

The three parameters are:

Amazon Marketplace: You can get sales estimates for a specific Amazon marketplace (country). Amazon has twenty marketplaces, including the US, the UK, India, Australia, Canada, etc. While sales estimators usually don’t support all marketplaces, they cover the biggest.

Best Seller Rank (BSR): The Best Sellers Rank is a proprietary ranking that Amazon gives to every product with at least one sale.

The same product can have two or more BSRs if it sells under different categories because BSR applies to a product in a particular category.

The Best Sellers Rank is a reasonable estimate of how well a product sells on Amazon.

Amazon Product Category: Since a product can sell under different categories and a single product can have multiple BSRs, it is vital to define the product category.

Some sales estimator calculators may use only the Amazon product URL or ASIN to generate sales estimates.

Which Companies Offer a Free Amazon Sales Estimator?

Several companies offer a free Amazon sales estimator. Here are the top 8 that I tried:

1. Jungle Scout Sales Estimator:

The Jungle Scout Estimator is by far the best in the market. The company has heavily invested in proprietary algorithms to provide the most accurate estimates among all available tools.

The accuracy of Jungle Scout data is well-established, and it shows in the estimates it provides.

The Jungle Scout Estimator Tool uses three parameters – sales rank, marketplace, and category to determine the average monthly sales.

Amazon sellers don’t need to connect their Seller Central accounts to use the tool.

2. Helium 10 Free Amazon Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-helium-10-sales-estimator-landing-page

Helium 10 is one of Jungle Scouts top competitors. However, in terms of data accuracy, Jungle Scout has been proven to show more accurate results.

Nonetheless, you can still count on the Helium 10 Free Amazon Sales Estimator to guide you with your product research. However to use the tool, you have to use their Chrome extension directly on the Amazon product page, which I find a bit annoying.

Like Jungle Scout’s tool, you need to provide the sales rank, choose the marketplace, and select the product category.

As with Jungle Scout, Helium 10 also use a proprietary algorithm to derive the estimates, but since Jungle Scout has been around longer, their data accuracy is much better.

3. AMZScout Free Amazon Sales Estimator:

Another well-known sales estimator is from AMZScout. Again, it is not as accurate as Jungle Scout’s data, but is still one of the top estimators online today.

Like Jungle Scout and Helium 10, you’ll provide the Best Sellers Rank and select a marketplace and category to start.

Once you provide the data and hit the ‘Calculate Sales’ button, AMZ Scout will display the estimated monthly sales.

screenshot-of-the-free-amzscout-amazon-sales-estimator-landing-page

4. Sellgo:

screenshot-of-the-sellgo-sales-estimator-landing-page

The Sellgo sales estimator works differently from other tools. You don’t need to find and add the Best Sellers Rank and select the category and marketplace. Instead, you will need the product ASIN or the product page URL.

Once you feed the data and run a search, Sellgo will display the average number of units of the product your researching sold by Amazon FBA sellers per month.

Unfortunately, Sellgo doesn’t return the best data. I’m unsure how they calculate the average monthly sales based on ASIN. I noted that the estimates are significantly less than the top tools.

5. Influencer Marketing Hub Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-free-amazon-sales-estimator-landing-page-by-influencer-marketing-hub

The Sales Estimator by Influencer Marketing Hub is another estimator tool to consider. You’ll need the BSR, marketplace, and product category.

However, the estimator tool only accepts Best Sellers Rank within 0 and 100. If your product research involves a product with a BSR above 100, the estimator will not work.

Also, the tool’s estimates seem unreliable. The data significantly differs from the top options like Jungle Scout, Helium 10, and AMZScout estimators.

6. SellerApp Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-sellerapp-amazon-sales-estimator

The Amazon Sales Estimator by SellerApp is another free tool you can use. This estimator tool requires only the product category and the seller rank. You don’t need to select the marketplace.

While the estimates by the SellerApp estimator are better than the results by the estimator of Influencer Marketing Hub, it still appears to underestimate the monthly sales.

7. SellerSprite Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-the-sellersprite-sales-estimator-landing-page

The SellerSprite Sales Estimator is another free Amazon Sales Estimator to estimate the monthly sales for any product. However, you must log in to use the tool. You can signup as a free member.

The tool displays a graph. A quick look will give the impression that it shows the sales history. Unfortunately, it’s not historical data. It only offers estimated daily and monthly sales for different best seller ranks. The lower the BSR, the more daily sales.

screenshot of the sellersprite graph

The graph gives you a good idea of what BSR number you’ll need to make x amount of sales in each Amazon category. You can also search by a products ASIN number.

The estimates are significantly lower than the top providers like Jungle Scout and Helium 10, so I’m unsure how accurate it is.

8. Supplier Scout Free Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-the-supplier-scout-sales-estimator-landing-page

The free Amazon sales estimator from Supplier Scout is very similar to AMZScout’s estimator tool. It also requires the marketplace, BSR, and product category to estimate the monthly sales.

Unfortunately, the tool grossly underestimates the sales volume.

How do I use a Free Amazon Sales Estimator tool?

Using a sales estimator tool is super easy. I’ll walk you through the steps using the Jungle Scout estimator.

Step 1: Find the BSR

You can find the BSR (best seller rank) on the product pages, by selecting any product on Amazon and scrolling down to the ‘Product Information’ section.

screenshot-of-how-to-find-bsr-and-product-category-on-amazon

The BSR along with the product category are in the ‘Additional Information’ section. You may notice two BSRs. That happens when a seller lists their product under multiple categories.

Copy the main BSR and remember the product category. In the screenshot above, the category is Office Products, and the BSR is 6,363.

Step 2: Feed the Data Into the Estimator Tool

Now, head over to your preferred tool. I recommend using Jungle Scout’s estimator because it’s the most accurate one. The free version of their estimator uses the same advanced algorithm as their paid plan. The only restriction is the number of estimates you search for per day.

In the tool, feed the sales rank in the first field. In the second field, use the dropdown to select the marketplace. Select the product category from the dropdown in the third field.

screenshot-of-estimating-monthly-sales-using-jungle-scout-sales-estimator

Finally, hit the Estimate Sales button and wait. The tool will show the estimated sales per month in the top right corner.

Step 3: Calculate Estimated Sales Per Day

If you want to know the daily sales estimate, divide the monthly estimate by 30. In the example above, the daily sales are 48 units daily (1440 ÷ 30 = 48).

That’s all!

How Accurate is the Junglescout Amazon Sales Estimator?

Jungle Scout has the most accurate data among all available Amazon FBA software. Jungle Scout uses a proprietary algorithm trained with years of Amazon data. The algorithm constantly updates data to stay relevant and accurate.

Jungle Scout’s free Amazon sales tracker uses the same algorithm that the Junglescout suite of paid tools uses.

Research shows Jungle Scout’s data has 84.1% data accuracy – the highest among all available FBA software.

What is The Best Free Amazon Sales Estimator?

Jungle Scout offers the best free Amazon sales estimator.

Though you can enjoy only 10 free estimates daily, you will receive the most accurate estimates among all tools. That’s because the free tool uses the same advanced algorithm that Junglescout uses for all the paid tools.

You don’t need to signup or login to use the tool. Therefore you have nothing to lose. If you’re currently using another estimator and want a second estimate, you can use the Junglescout estimator tool.

What Are Other Tools You Can Access On Jungle Scout?

Jungle Scout has many features that sellers use to gain a competitive edge. Here is a quick list of a few vital tools:

Listing Grader: Will give an optimization score for your product listing or product listings from other sellers. All you need is the ASIN or the product page URL. The score depends on the product title, features, images, and product description.

Product Database: Is a database of more than 450 million products. You can use it to find profitable product ideas with high demand but low competition. There are many filters that you can use to find the winning products.

Opportunity Finder: Helps to find winning products in profitable niches. You can refine the search results using many filters. You can even include or exclude keywords and run searches for different Amazon marketplaces.

Category Trends: Tracks the performance of the top 100 products in any category and subcategory on Amazon’s Bestsellers Page. With this tool, you can check the historical ranking data of the selected products, see the bigger picture, and understand how your business will perform if you sell those or similar products.

Amazon Book Sales Estimator

If you intend to sell books on Amazon and want to calculate the estimated sales per month, unfortunately none of the tools mentioned focus on books and so aren’t much help. Instead, here are two tools to estimate book sales:

BookBeam Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-the-bookbeam-book-sales-estimator-landing-page

Like the tools above, you need to provide the BSR, select a marketplace, and choose the format (books or kindle format). After feeding the necessary information into the estimator, click the estimate button to find the total number of units you can sell monthly.

TCK Publishing Book Sales Estimator:

screenshot-of-the-tck-publishing-book-sales-estimator

To use this tool, you’ll need to provide the BSR, and then select the book format (print or eBook) from the dropdown. Click the Calculate Sales button to get monthly and daily sales estimates.

Free Amazon Sales Estimator: Summary

Knowing how many products you can sell on Amazon will help to calculate your potential profits more accurately. JungleScout provides a near-accurate estimate because of its custom-built algorithm that the company uses for all its paid tools.

I highly recommend Junglescout as it’s a tool I actively use in my own business and I highly doubt my Amazon businesses would have been as successful as they have been without it.

The company doesn’t provide a free trial, but you can buy a subscription and test the platform. If you decide it’s not for you, they offer a full 7 day money back guarantee. Personally I recommend the Suite plan to get access the best set of tools to start and grow your business. You can access an exclusive up to 30% off offer here.

Good luck with your business!
